Responsible for monitoring, coordinating and facilitating network model management with respect to new generator interconnections and transmission expansion projects within the NEPOOL system.

How you will make an Impact:

Basecase Development (Power flow, Stability, GIC/GMD, MOD-033)



  • Monitor, maintain and report on project life cycle from conception through and including initial operation
  • Develop, organize and manage generation and transmission expansion projects utilizing enterprise modeling & model management software.
  • Technical gatekeeping and change management function for control of the network model basecase including checking-in and verifying project files as submitted by ISO-NE staff, Transmission Owner's (TO) and Generator Owner's (GO)
  • Conduct periodic update to ISO-NE basecase with new/modified in-service equipment, project withdrawal/retirements, and operating characteristics
  • Develop and verify study models based on user specified input and project selection for use by TOs/GOs, various ISO-NE teams and regional/inter-regional users i.e. NPCC/MMWG



Internal/External Communication



  • Support and serve on internal and external regional and national committees, task forces and working groups as required. Work with regional and national PCs in development of annual MMWG library cases.
  • Interface and communicate with internal staff for coordination of modeling requirement in the ISO-NE Energy Management System and Market Application system.



Process Management



  • Develop and maintain work instructions, process and procedures for modeling power flow, stability, short circuit and GIC/GMD characteristics. Periodic and yearly review of ISO Business Process



Software Development, Testing and Support



  • Develop, support and maintain auxiliary software required to support modeling activities of the MAS team working with the IT SDLC process.
  • Work with software vendors to develop, test and manage versions of modeling software for use by ISO-NE and its TOs. (PSS/E, MOD, MOD File Builder, ASPEN)
  • Manage & provide support for maintenance & upgrades to Model on Demand servers.



What we are looking for:



  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or Power System Engineering required. Master's degree in electrical engineering or Power System Engineering preferred.
  • Previous direct modeling experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge and experience with PSS/E and other power system analysis tools preferred
  • This position requires excellent analytical skills, and the ability to team well and communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
