Position Overview: Drainage Design Leader

Our client is seeking a Drainage Design Leader to join their team at the FDOT Corridors Program Office (CPO) in Celebration, FL. This embedded position requires the candidate to be onsite full-time and contribute to the Moving I-4 Forward program, one of the largest and most high-profile transportation projects in Florida. The Drainage Design Leader will provide leadership and technical expertise in the planning, design, and execution of drainage-related tasks and projects.

Responsibilities:




  • Provide professional engineering consultation in the planning, design, and coordination of drainage projects.



  • Develop and evaluate engineering reports, plans, and specification criteria.



  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams, including client communication, proposal coordination, and presentations.



  • Prepare specifications, scaled drawings, proposals, and ensure the approval of materials and construction.



  • Meet with clients to define project objectives and requirements for the scope of work.



  • Review junior staff's work for technical accuracy and provide guidance to other professionals and technicians.



  • Perform quality control reviews, field reviews, and observations of ongoing construction projects.



  • Lead a discipline team or small multidisciplinary teams to complete projects and manage scope, budgets, and schedules.




Qualifications:




  • Degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program with at least 20 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.



  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in good standing.



  • In-depth knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local codes, criteria, regulations, and ordinances.



  • Proficiency in production software and construction document production.



  • Proven ability to make decisions that significantly impact an organization and recommend operational strategies.



  • Recognized as a thought leader in the industry, with experience leading the development of new services, processes, or standards.



  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership.



  • Strong relationship-building skills with clients, contractors, and team members.
