Job Summary:

The maintenance planner is to improve workforce productivity and quality by strategically planning and scheduling all maintenance activities, including preventative maintenance tasks, repairs, and inspections, to ensure optimal equipment uptime and minimize disruptions by developing planned work orders, and coordinating with maintenance technicians to execute the planned schedule efficiently. This position reports to the Maintenance Manager.

Required Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Two years of technical school including electrical, PLC's, hydraulics & pneumatics.
  • Minimum five years' maintenance experience, preferably in an industrial setting. Emphasis on PLC's, hydraulics and mechanical.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and repair of pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical drive systems, and electrical controls.


  • PLC and controls experience, preferably Allen Bradley.
  • Understanding or certification in all PdM Technologies.
  • Fluid handling with focus in Hydraulics.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

  • Extrusion background preferred but not required.
  • Strong Continuous improvement skills and experience.
  • Must be able to work will with others as part of a team.
  • Must possess a willingness to learn and an eagerness to grow.
  • Must be able to follow detailed directions.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of employees.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Must drive a culture where safety is the number one priority for all Hydro and contract employees.
  • Keeps the Maintenance Manager and Supervisor informed of abnormal or critical situations and seeks advice on matters outside the Planner's knowledge or authority.
  • Develops and publishes weekly maintenance schedules.
  • Ensures that work orders are assigned and delivered to supervision & mechanics in conjunction with the weekly work schedule.
  • Ensures that completed work orders are closed out in a timely manner.
  • Is the system administrator for the CMMS and provides training needs.
  • 10% travel required to attend training and other off-site requirements.
