This position requires an active Top Secret w/SSBI clearance.

The successful candidate will be part of an Enterprise AD Support Team supporting 265,000+ user accounts and approximately 140,000 computer accounts across several AD domains on government-operated networks. The services that the AD Support Team supports in AD include: accounts and group management; security configuration of the AD infrastructure; Domain Name Service (DNS); Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP); Distributed File System (DFS) Replication services; Group Policy Objects (GPOs); and other directory services technologies as applicable and required.

The candidate provides Tier III level AD support, and the position requires knowledge of the Microsoft (MS) Windows Server Operating System and relevant AD applications (such as Lync, System Center Suite, and Exchange). The underlying infrastructure consists of both physical servers and VMware-based servers and requires knowledge of VMware Virtualization and VMware vCloud to perform the specialized Enterprise Directory and Messaging (EDM) AD tasks.

Pay commensurate with experience.

Active Directory Administrator Responsibilities Include:

  • Maintain the overall health of technologies associated with AD and internal DNS.
  • Resolve AD tickets escalated from the service desk to include completing the associated administrative activities and providing a weekly status report.
  • Coordinate incident tickets between Tier II and III sections, as well as other sections as required.
  • Provide documentation, guidance, and instruction to Tier II and service desks for handling standard AD-related incidents, work orders, and service requests.
  • Provide AD Service Desk Resolution Reports documentation to the service desk on the procedures for completing the task.
  • Submit and execute AD-related Request for Change (RFC) tasks.
  • Monitor the system availability and performance of AD with government-provided event management tools, and take corrective action regarding incidents that lower the health of AD.
  • Provide project support for AD-related technologies.
  • Coordinate with the Engineering Team and other sections on AD-related issues.
  • Support change management process, submit requests through the Change Approval Board, and participate in Change Review Boards.
  • Escalate product issues to third-party product vendors upon government approval. Implement monitoring tool thresholds and conduct proactive event remediation.
  • Provide analysis and remediation for Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guidelines (STIG) for all responsible technologies in preparation for the annual Commanders Cyber Readiness Inspections (CCRI).
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Active Directory Administrator Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to follow policies and procedures
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand, as well as the ability to respond clearly to questions
  • Aptitude to address negative situations and positively resolve them.
  • Education and Certification Requirements:
  • DoD 8580 IAT III (CASP+CE, CCNP Security, CISA, GCIH, GCED, or CISSP (or Associate)
  • Professional level certification, i.e., MCSA Windows Server 2012/2016/2019, MCSE Core Infrastructure, MS Windows Server Hybrid Administrator
  • 7+ years of related experience
  • Firewall, Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) experience configuring, certificate configuring; troubleshooting
  • Experience with PowerShell commands needed to manage AD features, roles, mailboxes, performance, and troubleshooting
  • Experience identifying the need for any AD system reconfigurations (minor or significant)
  • Experience maintaining policies, procedures, and training plans for AD system administration and appropriate use
  • Experience in building, tuning, and maintaining servers in an enterprise environment.
  • Experience troubleshooting server performance issues using native MS Windows Server tools and utilities
  • Strong experience with AD 2012/2016/2019, planning, deploying, and migration, including experience with mailbox server failover and cluster management
  • Extensive knowledge of AD architecture - databases and logs, mail routing, and protocol support.
  • Thorough working knowledge of MS Windows Server 2012/2016/2019
  • Ability to evaluate the need for any messaging system reconfigurations (minor or significant)
  • Ability to maintain policies, procedures, and training plans for messaging system administration and appropriate use
  • Thorough working knowledge of MS Windows Server 2012/2016/2019
  • Thorough working knowledge of AD as it relates to enterprise technologies
  • Ability to identify and troubleshoot server performance issues using native MS Windows Server tools and utilities
  • Maintain a "forward-looking" posture and work with management to plan for future upgrades, including AD migration to the newer versions
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
