This position will support MCC's Graphics Reproduction Excellence Team (GRE) and Production facilities across North America. This Color and Print Execution position will focus on contract proofing solutions, color management, front-end prepress systems and data management/optimization. Activities surrounding this position include but not limited to press profile generation and management, workflow improvements and automation, leveraging the use of Power BI/AI and developing solutions to streamline production.

This position will leverage software, programming and IT-based solutions to deliver value to our internal and external customers. A comprehensive understanding of the entire process flow from artwork inception through engineering, prepress, print tool generation, process control and color management through label production will be needed for success. This position will look to deliver consistent quality across MCC locations and numerous print processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Support GRE and Production facilities with color-related needs such as corrective action responses and investigations, press approvals, fingerprinting presses, development and maintenance of profiles and color look up tables, best practices, streamlining solutions in relation to software and hardware, press sheet reviews and scorecard programs, controlling plant curves and databases.
  • Develop and drive color quality, standardization and productivity improvements across all of MCC's North American production facilities.
  • Support image assembly by providing and maintaining proofing profiles, DFE and related color strategies, including proofing hardware and software support.
  • Work closely with the GRE and Graphic Technology teams to streamline processes and eliminate redundant tasks
  • Maintaining all records and work instructions related to GRE standard work and best practices
  • Implement, support and maintain a G7-centric environment allowing work to transfer between print processes and facilities in a seamless fashion.
  • As a member of the implementation team, identify tasks required in order to ensure all requirements / elements of Color Management and digital press optimization are defined.
  • Assist Sales in managing color related expectations - participating in the sales call and work directly with the customer's pre-press house / designers to ensure Color Managed files are established and meet MCC's specifications.
  • Standardize and establish best practices workflows using data to drive change.
  • Provide a centralized repository for color related materials, best practices and documentation.
  • Assist the various MCC facilities with customer on site color approvals.
  • Drive color quality and consistency improvements through all MCC's locations.
  • Measure plants performance to MCC's specifications using press data and job history.
  • Qualify and measure color performance to MCC specifications.
  • Work through color issues with customers and MCC facilities using data to facilitate resolution.
  • Create and maintain fingerprint forms and files to assist in business transfers-insuring receiving plants fingerprints are completed and color strategies properly set.
  • Review and establish best practices using automated tools to drive consistent results for all print technologies.
  • Define specifications for capturing, reporting and sharing of ERP and prepress data.
  • Provide support for all facilities regarding cost saving initiatives.
  • Work with and support all internal pre-press Managers.
  • Provide training and support for all new Color related innovation.

Qualifications:

  • A four-year college degree in a graphics related field; and/or 8 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience running presses, developing prepress workflows, managing color and/or graphics arts.
  • Expertise with prepress and color management software solutions including, but not limited to: Esko, GMG, HP Indigo, Hybrid, Measure Color, ColorCert, Microsoft 365 Power Apps and graphic project management software.
  • Solid understanding of computer servers, networking and IT infrastructure
  • Basic programming and script writing experience and skills
  • Experience with Radius and/or Globetek ERP is preferred.
  • Expertise in digital file preparation, color management and strategies for printed output.
  • Associate must have a working and technical understanding of the various digital and conventional printing platforms and technologies including, but not limited to: HP Indigo, hybrid inkjet/combination presses, Domino, etc.
  • Intimate knowledge of Color Management processes and workflows. This includes Color measurement devices and software that collect data to evaluate press performance and drive process improvements.
  • Esko/HP/Idealliance/G7 certifications are a plus.

  • Associate has the ability to work on-site as needed.
  • Associate must be able to travel as required.
