Job Overview

Under the direction of the Director of Distribution, The Distribution Manager is responsible for directly daily activities of the Distribution Center through the MDI (Manage for Daily Improvement) process including labor scheduling, exceeding KPIs (Key Performance Indicators), utilization of space, equipment and manpower.The Distribution Manager serves as an interface and coordinator among the DC and manufacturing operations, customer service, IT, Human Resources, and Transportation.

A Day In The Life

  • Responsible for enforcing safety standards, policies, practices, visual aids, and procedures within your facility to ensure the safety of all employees, customers and carriers.
  • Ensure root cause analysis process is executed throughout distribution center to ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction.
  • Responsible for the development of all associates within the distribution facility to ensure key positions are filled and a qualified succession plan is established for the future.
  • Develop/document plans, drive performance, and ensure timely completion of activities to achieve established KPIs in order meet customer and cost goals.
  • Lead with internal and external cross-functional teams to review processes and identify/implement opportunities for improvements, applying lean concepts and tools.
  • Subject matter expert on lean tools to mentor and teach others throughout the network to ensure perpetual continuous improvement occurs.
  • Recommend annual capital plan for your facility to ensure safe and efficient operation of your facility while ensuring costs are kept to a minimum
  • Establish a weekly training plan across exempt and non-exempt associates to ensure cross training to meet today's and tomorrow's needs.
  • Keeps open communication channels with associates by answering questions and explaining policies and procedures.
  • Assumes additional duties and responsibilities related as required and assigned.

What will help you thrive in this role?

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain or equivalent
  • Fifteen (15) years' experience in a high-volume warehouse
  • Ten (10) years' experience managing direct reports
  • Five (5) years' experience in SAP
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification or equivalent knowledge
  • Understanding of multiple shipping methods - LTL, Parcel, and TL Carriers and experience managing multiple freight carriers.
  • Proficient in establishing and maintaining coaching/ mentoring relationships, have a credible leadership presence, and be committed to developing those skill sets within their organization.
