Minimal Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in History or master's degree in a related field with at least 18 graduate hours in the field of instruction.


Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Two years of teaching experience using interactive teaching techniques.
  • Ability and background to teach United States, Western Civilization, African American history and Women's history courses.
  • Experience using assessment techniques to promote teaching and learning excellence.
  • Demonstrated experience with current pedagogical and instructional methods.
  • Demonstrated experience with utilizing a variety of classroom technologies, both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with all constituencies of a diverse community.
  • Familiarity with understanding the unique challenges students face on an urban campus in a metropolitan city.
  • Demonstrate your experiences with teaching students who are impacted by outside barriers, ie, economic insecurities, inadequate preparedness
  • Demonstrated interest in and passion for teaching community college students.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to use information technology for professional productivity (such as Microsoft Office Suite).



Work Hours
Normally scheduled Monday through Friday; may be required to work different shifts to include evenings and/or weekends. Schedule subject to change based upon department needs.


Compensation
Salary is commensurate with education and experience.

Preferred Areas of Expertise:

  • 6-9 hours in African American History
  • 6-9 hours in Women's Studies
  • 6-9 hours in World History or Western Civilization
