Position Summary

The Chaplain Resident is a student who is enrolled in the Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) program offered through MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital. The Chaplain Resident participates as a peer to the CPE Chaplain Interns and develops his/her pastoral care skills under the supervision of the ACPE Supervisor/Program Coordinator. He/she practices compassionate and effective spiritual support to patients, families, and staff members to address needs resulting from the impact of illness or injury. The Resident relates to the Chaplain Services team and to multidisciplinary teams as a practicum student and assists in addressing the spiritual/religious needs of patients and families while under supervision. The Resident also adequately pursues the objectives of MHS Chaplain Services and of the CPE program as described in the Standards of The Association for Clinical Pastoral Education.

Completion of satisfactory admissions materials and screening interview is required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in theology, ministry, pastoral studies, or related human services field

    1 Unit ACPE CPE

  • Endorsement by faith group for hospital chaplaincy

  • Sufficient ministry experience or its equivalency in order to demonstrate ministry readiness and predisposition

Pay and Benefit Expectations

We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $20.00 - $20.00 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant's years of experience align.
