Role DescriptionThe Fluid Systems Engineering team within the Mechanical Engineering group at Form is multidisciplinary and focused on delivering systems designs for electrolyte management, air delivery, and thermal cooling for Form Energy's energy storage system. We're hiring a Senior Staff Mechanical Engineer to join the Fluid Systems Engineering team. In this role, you will perform system-level architecture trade studies and analyze both systems and components to inform design direction. Responsibilities include leading heat transfer and CFD analysis efforts, establishing analysis best practices, providing system design and architecture direction, and mentoring a team of fluids engineers. Initially, you will participate in the conceptual design of Form Energy's next-generation product and influence its overall architecture and product design. This includes focus on defining and executing system-level design trade studies to inform performance, efficiency, and cost optimization. You can expect to work on all battery fluids, gas, and thermal systems, working closely with a cross-functional team of mechanical, electrical, controls, and chemical engineers. You will propose new conceptual designs and then lead the analysis effort to bring the next-generation system through detailed design into production. The ideal candidate will have a broad, interdisciplinary background in mechanical engineering with experience designing air/gas handling systems and low-cost, long-lifetime products.
