FTI has an exciting opportunity for and is looking for an experienced Logistics Specialist to join our team and provide on-site support to Surface Warfare Engineering School Command (SWESC) in Great Lakes, IL. The Logistics Specialist will provide analysis of resourcing requirements for execution year and future year budget planning. The role requires inventory/supply and financial/budget analysis, methodologies in managing, evaluating, providing recommendations, reports, and resolutions to support training requirements.



Responsibilities

    Provide direct support as a member of SWSC N8 Directorate to Surface Warfare Engineering Schools Command, Great Lakes, specifically financial and supply training requirements for their Schoolhouse and courses of instruction for Navy Enlisted Engineering Ratings.
  • Review funding request documents as needed and track their progress between SWESC and NAVFAC.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate the supply, material flow, and storage of inventory from the supplier to the customer.
  • Manage the flow of materials and/or products to ensure timely delivery in accordance with schedule and specifications, optimizing efficiency.
  • Provide accuracy in the preparation, submission, processing, and tracking of procurement requests and purchases.
  • Responsible for checking the PR's (Purchase Requests) to make sure they follow Supply Center guidelines prior to submission.
  • Work with team/support to ensure that customer requirements are met.
  • May work with outside vendors to obtain quotes and coordinate delivery of required inventory. May also coordinate with customs agencies as necessary to ensure timely delivery/receipt of products in the absence of a dedicated Import/Export Specialist.
  • Prepares logistics support documentation and source data, such as logistics operational management/user documents, integrated logistics support plans, user logistics support summaries, post-production support plans, and logistics implementation plans.
  • Implements logistics plans, databases, and support files to support the fielding of new complex information systems or major modifications.
  • Applies logistics principles and methods to specialized logistics solutions.
  • Works independently and leads the implementation of logistics discipline.
  • Attend N8 departmental meetings and training as required by the N8 Director.
  • Other duties that support and/or improve the execution of the duties assigned to the N8 Department in support of N78 Directorate may be required as part of this position.


Education/Qualifications

  • Must be a U.S. citizen with an active U.S. Dept. of Defense Secret Clearance (minimum).
  • Bachelor's degree Preferred (Business Management, Business Administration, or Accounting), will consider equivalentexperience.
  • 6 years minimum, 12+ years preferred in DoD Logistics or Supply Management.
  • Requires moderate skill set and proficiency in DOD Logistics or Supply discipline.
  • Knowledge of the following is highly preferred:
    • Navigation of Navy Supply research websites (I.E. One Touch Support, FEDMALL, PIEE(Procurement Integrated Enterprise Environment), GSA Advantage, IGC (Integrated Data Environment/Global Transportation Network Convergence), ETC.
    • Understanding of Government Commercial Purchase Card (GCPC) Program and processes
    • Understanding of DoD Governing Instructions, Publications, Notices, Messages and Memorandums
    • Proficient Computer Application skills (MS Office 365 and SharePoint)
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision while utilizing expert customer service skills with Government Civilians, Military, and Contractor personnel.
  • Must be flexible in completing various responsibilities requested by the customer and organize and complete ongoing tasks simultaneously.
  • Conducts work assignments of increasing complexity, under moderate supervision with some latitude for independent judgment.
  • Experience in a military or educational setting.
  • Familiarity with Surface Warfare Officers School operations or similar training institutions.
  • Ability to work 100% on-site at SWESC customer location in Great Lakes, IL.
