Overview/Job Description:

As Electric Boats backlog and work throughput increase, it becomes increasingly more imperative that the Electric Boat Information Technology (EBIT) organization work the right projects, at the right time, and within schedule and budget in order to support our growing business needs. In support of this goal the EBIT department has established the EBIT Project Management Office (PMO) that is responsible for the management of projects across all of EBIT.

The PMO team is responsible for the following:

    Project, Program, and Portfolio Planning which includes categorizing projects, evaluating projects, prioritizing projects, balancing project portfolios/programs, selecting the projects to fund, determining funding strategies, and authorizing selected projects.
  • Providing guidance for project management processes and best practices for EBIT.
  • Performance monitoring of all EBIT projects which involves regular project progress updates, as well as monitoring and analysis of project metrics.
  • Strategic Planning and Alignment with EB functional areas' critical business needs
  • Program management for major IT programs such as Integrated Product Development Environment (IPDE), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), and Facilities.

As the team expands in size and responsibility, the organization is looking for highly motivated individuals to join the IT leadership team as EBIT PMO Supervisors.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead teams of project managers responsible for the performance and delivery of projects
  • Establish and maintain EBIT PMO Standard Operating Procedures
  • Project assignment to project managers based on skills, capacity, and schedule requirements
  • Develop and foster relationships across organizational boundaries, acting as a trusted business partner

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher
  • 5+ years of related work experience

Preferred:

  • 2+ years experience in a project/program/portfolio leadership role
  • 2+ years experience with financial management and resource planning
  • 2+ years experience managing vendors and contracts


Skills

PMO Supervisors are expected to provide day-to-day direction and guidance to a team of project managers, as well as the IT Project teams. In addition to the tactical aspects of this role, they must also have the following skills:

  • Candidate must be adaptable, flexible, and have the ability to manage change
  • Candidate must have strong project management expertise
  • Candidate must have leadership and analytic skills
  • Candidate must be a self-starter with the proven ability to accomplish goals independently, with minimal oversight
  • Candidate must be capable of working in a team environment and have proven ability to drive teams and meet deadlines
  • Candidate must have the ability to demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills
