SCOPE:

The SIOP Planning Manager/Master Planner - In this role, the SIOP Manager will be responsible for our demand planning process, driving the aggregation and analysis of demand data to inform our monthly Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning (SIOP) review. This role will work closely with cross-functional leaders to evaluate demands from customers and internal departments while aligning with our supply chain and operations teams to ensure a holistic and accurate demand forecast. This position will report to the Director of Operations.

This position will balance production plan and inventory levels with demand to support target consistent with 99% customer service levels, inventory turn goals and capacity utilization/staffing requirements. Develops Sales & Operating Plan summaries for all product families. Develops feasible, rolling 18-month master build plan for finished goods and component items based on capacity availability. Calculates resulting requirements for raw materials and purchased parts based on MRP/lean replenishment methodology. Provides manufacturing schedules aligned with supply plans.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Overall responsibility for the customer demand forecasting process at the site level and global operations.
  • Develop customer demand plan based on business trends and demand patterns by using historical/statistical data and market/customer information.
  • Make customer demand forecast information available in ERP System and ensure data integrity by product type.
  • Facilitate the preparation of all stages of monthly SIOP cycle - Demand, Supply, Financial Reconciliation, and Executive Review
  • Identify demand forecast risks and opportunities and develop effective mitigation plans.
  • Define forecast granularity (details level) and netting rules together with all stakeholders (e.g. Operations, Sales, Finance, SIOP Manager, Order Management, Planning, Supply Chain, production, etc.).
  • Measure and improve forecast accuracy on a quarterly basis and lead adjustments based on customer demand.
  • Develop routine and ad-hoc demand related reports for the leadership team.
  • Develop valid, feasible rolling build plans (manufacturing) for finished goods and component items based on equipment, labor and raw material availability.
  • Use Capacity Planning tools to determine if production will be constrained in future periods; load level production plan and partner with operations to identify potential corrective actions such as: working overtime, adding equipment, outsourcing or expediting.
  • Interact frequently with Purchasing, Manufacturing, Sales and Marketing and Manufacturing personnel to balance supply and demand.
  • Develop and present rolling 18-month demand, production and inventory summaries at monthly S&OP meetings.
  • Publish and perform root cause analyses on key metrics including Customer Service Levels, Actual vs. Scheduled Productions, Master Plan Stability, and Inventory.
  • Issue monthly update of quarter-end inventory investment and turn projections for finished goods. Provide unit and dollar values along with analysis of significant changes.
  • Work closely with Marketing/Engineering to plan and execute NPI activities.
  • Key Metrics include: Customer OTD, Attainment to Schedule, Inventory Turns, and/or DOH, Forecast Accuracy.

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Five years Master Planning experience in a global, multi-site manufacturing environment with thorough MRP knowledge and functionality required.
  • Demonstrated, advanced understanding of lean manufacturing principles required.
  • Prior experience implementing a SIOP/S&OP process desired.
  • Experience working continuous flow environment a plus.
  • BA Degree in Materials Management, Supply Chain, Business Administration, Technical, or equivalent required.
  • Strong team leadership and process management skills required.
  • Ability to provide process leadership to help drive more proactive process improvements including projects to improve planning systems, lean manufacturing, and inventory control required.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize work, and meet deadlines required.
  • Proven ability to lead a cross-functional team, achieve desired results, and maintain relationships required.
  • Experience with data analysis and advanced excel functions such as VLOOKUP and Pivot Tables
  • Excellent written, verbal, analytical, influencing and interpersonal skills required.
