We are currently seeking a Software Developer to join our team in Chantilly, VA, in support of a customer modernization effort. If you're a passionate software engineer with a solid foundation in cloud development and a focus on API development and AWS Lambda, this is an exciting opportunity to apply your skills on impactful programs.

Position Overview

In this role, you'll work with a collaborative team to design, build, and deploy high performance, cloud-based microservices and APIs. You'll have the opportunity to work across multiple technologies, including Java, scripting languages, AWS Lambda, and cloud platforms-while ensuring code quality and performance through rigorous testing and DevOps best practices.

As a Software Developer, you'll be responsible for solving complex technical problems, adhering to coding standards, and contributing to an Agile environment where continuous improvement and innovation are encouraged.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and deploy scalable, resilient cloud microservices
  • Develop and maintain code using Java, scripting languages, and cloud-native tools like AWS Lambda
  • Write, consume, and manage RESTful APIs
  • Follow approved design plans, code standards, and quality assurance practices
  • Apply knowledge of DevOps, automation, and infrastructure as code to streamline deployments
  • Conduct unit and integration testing, code profiling, and design/code reviews
  • Work within Agile Scrum teams and participate in regular sprint activities
  • Support systems running in Linux environments and deploy through web servers such as Tomcat, WebLogic, and IIS
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to solve complex software and integration challenges

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field
    (Additional years of specialized experience may be considered in lieu of a degree)
  • Hands-on experience with distributed, cross-platform applications, orchestration, and security
  • Demonstrated experience with:
    • API development, especially RESTful services
    • Cloud environments, particularly with AWS Lambda
    • DevOps practices like automated deployment, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code
    • Java and at least one scripting language (e.g., Servlets, Hibernate, Spring, UI Frameworks, J2EE)
    • Automation and testing tools for quality assurance
    • Client-side technologies such as Java Swing, EXT JS, JSP/HTML
    • NoSQL or file-based storage like MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Oracle, or SQL Server
    • Web server technologies (e.g., Tomcat, WebLogic, IIS, HTTPCore)
  • Experience working with Linux operating systems
  • Familiarity with Git, Jenkins, Puppet, Chef, and other CI/CD tools
  • Proven ability to operate in dynamic environments with Agile teams
