Job Summary We are seeking a dependable and safety-conscious Banding & Coating Line Operator to join our 1st, 2nd and 3rd Shift production team. This role combines responsibilities related to packaging, coating operations, and forklift/material handling. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment and be certified or willing to certify in multiple production roles. You'll be instrumental in ensuring our products are safely packaged, efficiently processed, and properly handled throughout the facility.
Key Responsibilities
Operate powered strapping and wrapping machines to securely package units for internal transport or external shipment. Apply protective materials such as corner protection, stretch wrap, cardboard, dunnage, and spacers. Operate coating line machinery and assist with troubleshooting and quality assurance. Move materials using forklifts or other powered industrial vehicles to support production flow. Maintain accurate records of packing methods, material use, and special customer specifications. Monitor and adjust packaging and coating processes to meet quality and efficiency standards. Conduct routine equipment inspections and basic maintenance checks. Ensure all work areas are clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards. Lead or assist with team operations, demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities, and support process improvements. Perform other duties and assist in other plant operations as needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required. 1+ years of experience in manufacturing, packaging, or coating operations preferred. Forklift certification (or ability to obtain upon hire). Certified or willing to become certified as a Fork Truck Operator, Sander Operator, Coating Operator, and Inspector. Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Proficient in using a tape measure and reading work instructions. Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain legible and accurate documentation. Comfortable lifting and handling materials up to 50 lbs. Demonstrated leadership, communication, and teamwork skills. Commitment to workplace safety, including use of PPE and adherence to OSHA standards. Willingness to learn new equipment and advance in role as opportunities arise.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
Frequent standing, walking, lifting, bending, and reaching throughout a 10-hour shift. Push/pull utility carts weighing up to 60 lbs. Work in an environment exposed to wood dust, airborne particles, and moving machinery. Moderate noise levels; use of hearing protection and other PPE as required.
