POSITION SUMMARY:

The Bethel Station Agent is responsible for freight loading, unloading, and acceptance of in-bound, transfer, and out-bound freight; freight delivery to customers, including USPS Bypass Mail, in accordance with established procedures. This position is also responsible for the accurate documentation of airway bills in the electronic system.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Loading and unloading of all manifested freight and mail in accordance with prescribed handling procedures.
  • Accepting and transferring mail from and to other airlines, pick-up, and delivery of mail from and to the Post Office, and delivery of Bypass mail to customers in accordance with the rules and regulations established by the Post Office and the company.
  • Freight delivery to customers, including USPS Bypass Mail.
  • Assisting customers with freight delivery and pick-up in accordance with all local, state, federal, and Company rules and regulations.
  • Treating customers in a prompt, courteous, and efficient manner.
  • Complete and accurate entry of airway bills and information into the computer system.
  • Operating ground equipment in a safe manner.
  • Perform building and ground maintenance to promote a safe work environment and professional company image.
  • Answer incoming calls and monitor the phones.
  • Regular attendance and shift work is required.
  • Other duties as assigned.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:



  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and interoffice memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively communicate information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, in person, and over the telephone.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages.
  • Ability to operate ground equipment safely.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Ability to work under flexible customer service demands.
  • Presents a friendly and professional image to the public.


QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:



  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Six months related experience and/or training preferred.
  • Valid Driver's License is required.
  • Must be able to obtain a Department of Transportation Medical card and pass all medical screening required.
  • Failure to obtain a medical card will result in discharge from the company.
