I. JOB OVERVIEW


Job Description Summary:
The Graduate School of Education and Human Development (GSEHD) at the George Washington University in Washington, DC is dedicated to the mission of leading innovation through learning. Our students emerge from our programs enriched in theory and practice and become agents of change in education, counseling, and organizational leadership. The Office of Student Life ( OSL) supports GSEHD's mission by proactively developing relationships with prospective applicants and students, and helping them navigate their academic journey from admission through graduation.

The Office of Student Life seeks an outstanding individual to serve as Associate Director, Admissions and Enrollment Management. This mission-critical position will lead efforts to eliminate barriers to student enrollment and retention, and optimize operations related to applications and enrollment. The Associate Director will contribute to the development and implementation of communications strategies and evaluate the effectiveness of enrollment management initiatives. This position reports to the Director of Admissions and works closely with the admissions and student services teams to increase overall enrollment.

Responsibilities include evaluating and processing admissions applications, determining eligibility criteria, preparing communications, generating reports and monitoring applications, advising students on registration, reviewing and auditing application and enrollment data. The role will work with prospective and current students to troubleshoot challenges in completing applications and registering for classes. The Associate Director will oversee Banner and CRM management of records. This position may supervise staff or student workers.

Specific Responsibilities:

Slate Management

  • Lead the Slate implementation and training for GSEHD. Act as project manager for implementation/upgrade related projects. Coordinate testing and assist in preparation of procedural documentation.
  • Strategically use Slate's functionality to build queries and reports for recruitment and retention goals. Oversee the development of reports, processing capabilities, and infrastructure within Slate.
  • Collaborate with team members to develop Slate functionalities related to financial aid, marketing & communication plans, and other critical areas.
  • Provide continuous improvement to maximize efficient workflow of CRM and data management.



Application & Enrollment Management

  • Supervise admissions application processing ensuring accuracy and timely completion in partnership with admissions leadership.
  • Manage graduate admission process: application completeness, auto standards review, offer alert, letter generation, applicant response/student activation in Banner.
  • Oversee the audit for all conditional admits ensuring compliance.
  • Contribute to a strategic communication plan for students' academic life-cycle: application, matriculation, academic status, and progress towards graduation.
  • Coordinate collection of I-20 documents and ensure compliance.
  • Develop and share application pipeline reports with faculty and staff.
  • Administer scholarship processes in partnership with OSL Leadership.

Performs other work-related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

This is a hybrid position, meaning some days will be in the office on campus and some days remote.
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 5 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master's degree or higher in a relevant area of study plus 3 years of relevant professional experience. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong interest in and direct experience with enrollment management. Specific experience with masters and doctoral admissions processes and graduate student retention efforts preferred.
  • Proficiency with CRMs, student information systems, and data management tools. Skills with Slate, Salesforce, Banner, and Tableau are highly desired.
  • Strong preference for candidates experienced in implementing a Slate instance.
  • Demonstrated success in business processes and/or operations improvement.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated success in teamwork and in building cross-functional and interdepartmental relationships and successfully collaborating across roles and departments.
  • Experience analyzing university policy, explaining it to stakeholders, and applying it to specific situations.

Hiring Range $64,483.58 - $88,679.60
