Dematic Corporation is now hiring a Regional Field Service Technician. Under the direction of the Field Service Manager, this position provides service and repair and service and maintenance training for installed Dematic systems and equipment. As the Dematic representative in the Customer's facility, this position is heavily responsible for maintaining customer goodwill toward Dematic. The primary objective is to ensure that Dematic systems have the greatest availability possible for customer use and that customers are satisfied with their Dematic system and equipment. This role can be based anywhere throughout the Northeast region of North America, preferably close to an airport for travel. Overtime and occasional weekend work may be required. What we offer:

The base pay range for this role is estimated to be $30 to $35.50 per hour at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as work location, education, experience, knowledge, and skills.

What You Will Do in This Role:

As a Field Service Technician at Dematic Corp., you will have the innovative opportunity to work on powerful technology and provide world-class service to our clients. Your role is essential in ensuring our equipment operates flawlessly and meets our high standards of performance.

  • Participates in semi-complex equipment trial runs, investigative tests, repairs, and overhauls.
  • Participates in training customers on the use and maintenance of our semi-complex products and services, empowering them to achieve efficient performance.
  • Perform semi-complex maintenance on tools and test equipment, meticulously detailing all inspections, maintenance, repair work, and failures to maintain a comprehensive service history.
  • Respond to service calls, assessing the performance of semi-complex products and equipment, and recommending modifications or improvements to improve functionality.
  • Participates in assessing the performance of semi-complex products/equipment based on field support data and recommends modifications or improvements.
  • Performs semi-complex work within the technical or paraprofessional areas.
  • Effectively identifies problems as they occur and takes appropriate steps to solve them efficiently and effectively.
  • Refers to complex, unusual problems for others.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Trade school graduate or two-year Associate's degree in a mechanical, electrical, or mechanical technician program. Bachelor's degree in engineering preferred.
  • Two years (minimum) experience in troubleshooting electromechanical and/or mechanical equipment. The successful candidate must have some work experience with automated material handling equipment.
  • Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (AS/RS), conveyors, Automated Lifts, and Automatic Guided Vehicles (AGV).
  • The candidate must be willing to travel on short notice and spend more than 80% of the time traveling. The candidate may be continuously away from home for as long as a month (offer travel expenses).
  • Availability during off hours, including weekends, holidays, and off shifts, to meet the demands of our clients and travel accordingly.
  • Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and off shifts.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in stressful situations, ensuring a high standard of service delivery.
  • Strong written communication skills, Must be able to write concise, clear, and complete trip reports in the time frame required according to Dematic procedures.
  • The candidate must know how to use personal computers; proficient with Microsoft products like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Also processing, database functions, and communications. Understanding personal computer hardware setup and software configuration is required.
  • Proven experience with Programmable Logistic Controllers (PLC), including at least 3 years in a related field providing customer service support.
  • Expertise with Allen Bradley Logix PLC controls platforms and solving controls hardware issues.
  • Experience with Siemens and Modicon PLCs is a plus.
  • Proficiency in electrical troubleshooting and problem-solving.
  • Strong customer service mentality and excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage tasks with minimal direction, achieving outstanding results.
