This opportunity is in the Claims department.

Our Claims Department oversees both high-exposure workers' compensation and liability claims. As an unbundled carrier, we work actively with third-party administrators (TPAs) and self-administered accounts to assist in guiding claims to a successful resolution. As an excess carrier, the catastrophic claims we handle keep our group challenged, but the uniqueness provides plenty of growth opportunities.

Role Description:

Are you ready to take charge of complex and high-exposure liability claims across a broad spectrum of insurance lines? As a Senior Liability Claims Manager, you'll lead from the front-handling sophisticated litigation matters, setting strategy, and collaborating with both internal and external partners to guide claims to resolution. You'll manage cases involving Automobile Liability, General Liability, Employers Liability, Public Entity (Professional Liability), Cyber, Excess, Umbrella, and Construction Liability from start to finish. Your legal knowledge and investigative acumen will be essential in driving timely and cost-effective outcomes.

You'll be responsible for litigation management, coverage analysis, reserve setting, and counsel oversight while supporting TPAs and guiding strategic resolutions. Your insights will help shape claims trends and risk evaluations. Qualifications:

Education:




  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university is required



  • Juris Doctor (JD) is preferred




Required Qualifications:




  • Must be presently authorized to work in the U.S. without a requirement for work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future



  • This position allows for a hybrid work schedule which includes a minimum of 3 days per week in our St. Louis Corporate Office, located at 1832 Schuetz Rd. Saint Louis, MO. All employees are required to submit work from home requests and follow our Work From Home policy, which will be provided to all candidates selected to interview.



  • 10 or more years of experience managing high-exposure, complex liability claims including Auto, General, Employers, Public Entity, Cyber, Excess, Umbrella, and/or Construction Liability



  • Strong litigation management experience, including mediation and trial involvement



  • Demonstrated ability to analyze coverage issues and draft reservation of rights and coverage letters



  • Experience in multiple jurisdictions, ideally with both carriers and TPAs



  • Excellent organizational, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills



  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook



  • Ability to manage a high-volume workload independently




Preferred Qualifications:




  • JD degree from an accredited law school



  • Designations such as AIC, SCLA, or CLCS



  • Experience in project work or leadership influence beyond direct responsibilities



  • Familiarity with reimbursement processes and reinsurance reporting requirements

Compensation for the successful candidate will consider the candidate's particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies, experience and geographic location.
