HDR Engineering is looking for an Agribusiness Practice Lead to join our growing Industrial Sector.

Primary Responsibilities

The Agribusiness Practice Lead is responsible for oversight of HDR's Agribusiness Practice strategy, client development, growing a book of business, recruitment, financial performance, and project delivery. Oversee technical and financial performance for planning, design, and construction programs for agribusiness/Food & Beverage facilities; work with HDR local operations managers, regional directors, and Industrial Sector leadership in the areas of strategic planning, development of annual and long-term goals, budgeting, program leadership, client development, community and industry participation, project pursuits and staffing.



  • Develop and implement the strategy and tactics for profitable sustainable growth of HDR's Agribusiness Practice.
  • Provide technical oversight and leadership of project delivery in the Agribusiness Practice.
  • Recruit, retain, mentor and train key personnel required to deliver Agribusiness projects and build client relationships.
  • Work with HDR's Alternative Delivery Directors to build relationships with targeted Construction General Contractors and OEMs within the Agribusiness marketplace.
  • Gain an understanding of all HDR's service offerings and determine which can be leveraged into the Agribusiness market. These include environmental, water/wastewater, transportation, materials handling, civil/structural, geotechnical, electrical/I&C, packaging, strategic communications, sustainability, and many other service offerings.
  • Work with Business Group and Operational leadership on HDR's Annual Planning and Budgeting process for the Agribusiness Practice.
  • Manage projects and/or provide Subject Matter Expertise for Agribusiness projects.
  • Participate in development of strong client relationships and serve as a client manager for key clients.
  • Monitor new and emerging trends in the marketplace and participate in development and implementation of local and regional HDR strategic and tactical planning.
  • Facilitate major pursuit proposal and scope/budget/schedule reviews, client feedback, problem resolution, recognition activities and client development within the Practice.
  • Encourage and participate in business and community activities as representative of HDR.



Preferred Qualifications:



  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in the Agribusiness industry.
  • Existing network of clients within the Agribusiness / Food & Beverage Industry.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain clients in consulting industry.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel to support HDR offices, client engagement and project delivery.
  • Work cooperatively within the HDR Matrix, diverse teams, regional, department, technical managers, and project staff.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in an engineering, planning or a related field
  • A minimum of 10 years of industry experience
  • Experienced in development and management of strategic marketing programs for planning and/or engineering services
  • Experienced in development and management of a wide range of client relationships and specific program and/or project pursuits
  • Experienced in overall staff development to include recruiting, career path and professional growth
  • Experienced with industry associations and maintains a visible profile in the market sector
  • Ability to work cooperatively with Regional Market Sector Directors, Market Sector Directors, Business Class Directors, Regional Business Group Directors, Area Business Group Managers, Area Marketing Managers and Area Managers
  • Demonstrated commitment to HDR values. An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions. Temporary and part-time roles eligible for limited benefits.) The targeted salary range for this position (based on experience and geographic location) is $180,000 - $250,000.
