Research Specialist (Sepulveda Research and Evaluation Department) This is a remote position, and you have the option to elect into a 9/80 flex work schedule. The pay range for this role is between $21.38 - $24.59 per hour. Summary As a Research Specialist, you will work in the Research and Evaluation Department and will be responsible for data collection, monitoring, and reporting across multiple projects, programs, and sites. You will monitor and troubleshoot issues with data collection and databases (internal and external), implement data quality improvement projects, produce periodic performance monitoring reports, and support various department research, program evaluation, and quality improvement projects. Primary Duties
- Independently coordinate data collection for multiple projects to ensure consistency and quality. This includes producing regular monitoring reports to monitor data collection and data entry across multiple projects.
- Enter, organize, clean, analyze, and interpret data.
- Coordinates continuous data quality improvement projects related to data collection and data entry to ensure quality of data. Troubleshoot issues that come up with data collection and data entry.
- Liaison with multiple internal departments and with DMH to troubleshoot data issues.
- Consults with individual program staff regarding administration and scoring of various outcome measures.
- Drafts and provides written and verbal feedback regarding outcomes projects to program management and staff.
- Train staff on data collection workflows.
- Develops simple surveys using a survey platform and coordinates and monitors data collection.
- Manages small scale research, program evaluation, or quality improvement projects with support from supervisor.
- May fulfill basic data requests as appropriate. Sources public data for internal requests.
- Produce data tables that support program reporting requirements.
- Provide general evaluation support to senior Research and Evaluation staff and perform other administrative duties as needed.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Social Science, Psychology, Sociology, or similar fields.
- 1+ years of experience working in a DMH contracted environment and/or community mental health environment required (2+ years preferred).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities by being flexible, collaborative, responsive, and adaptable.
- Strong organizational, communication (verbal and written), and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize assignments and meet required deadlines.
- Ability to work both independently when needed and collaboratively as a team member.
- Experience troubleshooting and problem-solving issues with data collection and data quality.
- Advanced experience in Excel required. Experience with R (or other statistical computing environments), data visualization, descriptive statistics, and inferential statistics preferred.
- Ability to gain a strong working knowledge of research and program evaluation methods.
- Ability to present ideas, information, and viewpoints clearly, both verbally and in writing.
- Experience working with electronic health record (EHR) systems and other databases.
- Efficiently use personal computer, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience or training in research and evaluation preferred.
