Job Overview:

This position will provide pediatric nutrition counseling services and facilitate KidsFit, the pediatric weight management program at the Pediatric Specialty Center at Cooperman Barnabas-West Orange. This Registered Dietitian will provide expert nutritional guidance to infants, children and adolescents addressing growth concerns, medical conditions such as failure to thrive, obesity, diabetes, gastrointestinal disorders, food allergies and overall dietary needs. This individual will work closely with parents, caregivers and the multidisciplinary health care team to provide evidence-based nutrition and healthy lifestyles programming for children and their families. The RDN for the KidsFit for Healthy Families program will report to the Manager of Wellness Services at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years experience in clinical dietetics and/or nutrition counseling.
  • A master's degree in nutrition or CDR Certificate of Training in Obesity for Pediatrics is a plus.

Certifications and Licenses Required (if applicable):

  • Certified Registered Dietitian Nutritionist accredited through CDR. RDN.

Scheduling Requirements (non-exempt positions):

  • Monday through Friday and some evenings.

Essential Functions:

  • Conducts comprehensive nutrition assessments inclusive of dietary intake, biometrics, anthropometrics and clinical care plans.
  • Develops pediatric nutrition care plans with documentation in the EMR.
  • Provide evidence-based nutrition and wellness education and counseling to patients, families and caregivers.
  • Initiate, build out and lead KidsFit treatment to fulfill the CDC required components of a pediatric obesity program.
  • Develops recipes and nutrition/fitness activities that consider family dynamics, preferences and income.
  • Liaise with Rutgers evaluation team for program evaluation planning and metrics reporting in compliance with terms of CDC cooperative agreement.
  • Partners with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the successful referral, implementation and maintenance of KidsFit for Healthy Families.
