Job Description

The department of Business and Information Technology in Kummer College of Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Economic Development at Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&T) invites applications for an Associate Professor in Management, Business Ethics, Ethical Leadership, Human Rights, and Organizational Behavior. We seek a dynamic scholar and educator who demonstrates a strong commitment to interdisciplinary research, community engagement, and transformative teachings.

The ideal candidate will possess a robust publication record in top-tier academic journals, significant experience in leading interdisciplinary research initiatives, and a passion for advancing ethics and human rights in organizational and entrepreneurial contexts. Applicants should bring evidence of externally funded research, curriculum innovation, and a history of collaborative leadership across academic, industry, and nonprofit sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct and publish high-impact, interdisciplinary research in business ethics, human rights, leadership, and organizational behavior.
  • Design and teach innovate undergraduate and graduate courses in management, leadership, stakeholder management, group and team dynamics, ethical decision-making, and corporate based project experiential learning.
  • Mentor students on academic, professional, and research paths, fostering ethical leadership and social responsibility.
  • Develop and lead strategic academic initiatives, research centers, and high-profile community engagement programs.
  • Collaborate across disciplines and engage with corporate partners, government entities, and community-based organizations to create applied learning and research opportunities.
  • Provide meaningful service at the department, college, and university levels, including faculty governance and diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in management, organizational behavior, business ethics, entrepreneurship, strategy, or a closely related field from an AACSB-accredited institution or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated record of scholarly excellence, including peer-reviewed publications in high-quality journals in areas such as management, business ethics, entrepreneurship, leadership, organizational behavior, or commercialization of new ventures.
  • A strong record of interdisciplinary, impact-driven research with practical applications in business, ethics, or human rights.
  • Evidence of teaching excellence at the undergraduate and/or graduate level in areas such as management, leadership, stakeholder management, group and team dynamics, ethical decision-making, and corporate based project experiential learning.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead academic initiatives or programs that bridge academia, industry, and community engagement.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience designing or leading programs in applied ethics, entrepreneurial leadership, or technology commercialization.
  • A track record of securing and managing external research funding from corporate, foundation, or government sources.
  • Demonstrated leadership in launching or directing interdisciplinary centers, symposia, or strategic academic initiatives.
  • Recognition through national or international awards, fellowships, or appointments (e.g., Fulbright, editorial boards).
  • A strong commitment to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and socially responsible academic environment.
  • Experience collaborating with business leaders, nonprofits, and public sector partners to address real-world challenges.

COLLEGE of ENGINEERING & COMPUTING (CEC)
Missouri S&T's College of Engineering and Computing is the largest of three colleges at S&T, accounting for approximately 80% of the total enrollment (about 4,500 undergraduates and 800 graduate students). The college includes more than 170 ranked faculty members who serve in 16 undergraduate programs, all with master's and doctoral equivalents organized into nine academic departments. The college recently added a bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering and a Ph.D. in bioengineering, both starting in fall 2024.
