JOB DESCRIPTION

The Supervisor Accounting will be responsible for supervising the day-to-day operations of the Accounting Department, including recommending policies and procedures, preparing and/or reviewing financial statements, statutory and regulatory filings and reports, supervise the monthly financial close and journal entries from staff, project oversight and other essential accounting functions as assigned.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the daily activities of the accounting staff, including reviewing and approving employee deliverables and ensure completion is timely and accurate.
  • Supervise monthly close activities including review and/or preparation of journal entries, reconciliation and financial reporting.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, statutory and regulatory filings, in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and/or Statutory basis, create ad hoc reports and narratives, validate data output, and support enterprise reporting requests.
  • Oversee operational and financial transaction workflows in a timely manner, including problem solving and initiate resolving complex escalated accounting issues through proactive collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Analyze and balance workload among team members.
  • Ensure that staff are trained and continue their development through coaching and mentoring, utilizing enterprise training materials.
  • Responsible for ensuring that processes and procedures are adequately documented and adherence to internal controls
  • Process transactions in accordance with GAAP and/or regulatory requirements and support internal and external audits
  • Assess and implement special projects within division and cross functional teams
  • Proactively recommend process improvements to achieve operational efficiency.


QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years as experience with Bachelor's degree is required; 2+ years supervisory experience required.

Additional Experience

  • Statutory filing experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Advanced knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and accounting structure.
  • Strong organizational, effective time management, prioritization skills and multi-tasking abilities
  • Advance critical thinking, problem solving, analytical skills and detail-oriented
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills to effectively coordinate work and communicate across disparate groups of individuals, functions, and levels in the organization.
  • Ability to collaborate and implement projects within division and with cross functional teams.
  • Ability to diffuse tension and effective conflict management skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Oracle Financial or ERP software experience preferred
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to effectively lead and manage others

Licenses

* Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred

Base Pay Information

The national base pay range at the end is a good-faith estimate of what Delta Dental may pay for new hires. Actual pay may vary based on Delta Dental's assessment of the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), related experience, education, certifications and ability to meet required minimum job qualifications. Other factors impacting pay include prevailing wages in the work location and internal equity.
Pay Grade 20. $71,400 - $149,500
