Principal Accountabilities

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Performs a variety of minor repairs and services to maintain motor vehicles.
  • Places and maintains decals on vehicles.
  • Checks and replaces batteries.
  • Rotates, repairs, and replaces tires.
  • Washes, polishes, and cleans interiors and exteriors of vehicles.
  • Drains, flushes, and replaces engine, transmission, and differential grease and oils.
  • Checks, cleans, calibrates, and replaces spark plugs.
  • Cleans and replaces oil and air filters.
  • Adjusts brakes, replaces windshield wipers, and similar minor parts.
  • Assists in major overhaul jobs by disassembling and cleaning parts, repairing components such as generators and water pumps, and replacing thermostats, points, electrical wiring, and other items.
  • Maintains tools and equipment and cleans work areas.

  • Perform other qualified duties as assigned



Knowledge & Skills



  • Must have a working knowledge of ground support equipment and associated systems.
  • Must be familiar with aircraft and ground safety procedures.
  • Must have a working knowledge of automotive maintenance, basic tools, drawings, schematics and normal aircraft safety requirements.
  • Must have a knowledge of corrosion detection, prevention and treatment.
  • Knowledge of systems related to individual specialty codes, ability to use military and company publications, drawings, blueprints, microfilm, and diagrams.
  • Knowledge of supply procedures.
  • Must be able to operate a forklift, tow tractor and other material handling equipment.
  • Ability to obtain a secret security clearance.



Experience & Education



  • Completion of high school and specialized training courses is desirable.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of actual and recent experience in the repair, modification, maintenance, and overhaul of systems related to individual specialty codes.
  • A & P and FCC Licenses are desirable but are not a requirement.
  • NOTE: An A & P License shall be considered equivalent to three (3) years of actual and related experience.




    Physical Requirements/Working Environment



    • May work in an Aircraft maintenance hanger or outside.
    • May be required to respond to a wide variety of operational circumstances, including extreme weather conditions and rudimentary infrastructure.
    • May be exposed to extreme noise from turbine and jet engine aircraft.
    • May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles; may be exposed to electrical shock hazards or work near moving mechanical parts, vehicles, or aircraft.
    • Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for certain periods throughout the day.
    • Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands.
    • Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee, and reach above/below shoulders.
    • May be required to lift to 50 pounds.
    • May be required to see aircraft in flight, read dials/gauges, and identify small objects and hand tools.
    • Must be able to see imperfections, micrometer readings, and other small scales.
    • Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear.
    • Must be able to distinguish color and judge three-dimensional depth.
    • May be required to operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, forklift, APU, etc.

    • The salary range provided is intended to display the value of the company's base pay compensation for locations in the state of Maryland and may be modified at the discretion of the company.

      • Maryland Salary Range:

        • USD $36.49


      • Union Flex Benefit Credit:

        • USD $3.00/HR


      • Opt-Out Health Credit (must have your own coverage):

        • USD $3.15/HR
