Staff Accountant

First Merchants Bank is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our team! This position will perform accounting functions to process various transactions, balance and reconcile accounts, maintain accruals, etc.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Complete monthly reconciliations for complex GL and internal deposit accounts as required.
• Research general ledger and accounting systems to respond to various accounting inquiries from management, vendors or employees which may include but not limited to extracting system data and utilize various means to provide professional responses including Excel, Word, etc.
• Complete tasks as assigned related to SEC reporting and/or other regulatory required reporting.
• Take on additional high-level responsibilities and projects as required.
• Provide support to management on assigned projects.

To be successful in this position, we require the following:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field OR associate degree/ two years of college + two (2) years of related work/military experience OR four (4) years of related work/military experience (plus any additional required experience).
• Three (3) years of accounting or related experience.

The following would be a plus:

• Prior banking experience.
