Description
The Associate General Counsel will provide substantive legal support and related services across all corporate divisions at the direction of the General Counsel. Primary areas of focus include (i) contract review and administration; and (ii) insurance procurement and administration. The Associate General Counsel will assist with (i) investigation of liability claims, (ii) government filings and regulatory compliance, and (iii) negotiating commercial disputes. The individual will report directly to the company's General Counsel but work closely with all divisional Vice Presidents. The successful candidate will demonstrate initiative, responsiveness, attention to detail, flexibility to handle a variety of assignments, and enthusiasm to find solutions efficiently. The Associate General Counsel will be the primary reviewer of contracts and provide legal and risk management support across all operating divisions of the company. The individual will take a lead role in collecting and submitting to insurance providers corporate information required as part of insurance renewals; will work closely with the company's insurance brokers and adjusters, and will be involved in reviewing proposed insurance coverages. It is also important for the person filling this role to be willing to take on additional responsibilities as the need arises. Flexibility and willingness to support the Company's broad range of legal needs is important, including in the areas of regulatory compliance, real property management, and commercial borrowing. It is expected that the individual will assist in collecting and processing information required for governmental and regulatory filings. Education
Juris Doctorate (required)
Experience
Five+ years' experience working in a law firm, corporate or governmental legal department, or in the insurance industry. Understanding commercial contract provisions and handling contract negotiations and administration. Experience dealing with a variety of legal transactions in the areas of real estate, financing and other corporate matters. Knowledge of various lines of insurance coverages and the insurance renewal process. (required)
