Job Summary

Under general direction, develop written content on behalf of the Office of Admission that focuses on electronic and print communications - email, web and print collateral; collaborates to provide copy and editing communication materials; conducts in-depth market research to support marketing and enrollment, as well as best practices in the field of higher education; helps to maintain and uphold University brand standards.

Job Duties

  • Responsible for writing content for various forms of media targeted toward prospective SLU undergraduate and graduate students including their parents. Develops calling scripts for telecounseling programs.

  • Schedules, executes, and filters electronic mail campaigns to prospective students; serves as the author of a series of recruitment e-mails and application letters targeted to potential students.

  • Collaborates with various units within the Office of Admission, the Division of Enrollment and Retention Management, and other areas of the University to develop written content for projects to support greater University- and Division-wide goals.

  • Collaborates with professional and student staff to develop new content when necessary, for email and web based needs, and periodically auditing existing content.

  • Collaborates to assist with the development of a comprehensive and integrated admission marketing plan for the University, including development of themes, identification of target audiences, and corresponding media selection; conducts research into trends and best practices in higher education marketing and communication.

  • Working closely with communication team leadership, this individual will serve as a copy writer for publications designed to recruit high school, community college and graduate students to visit and enroll in Saint Louis University.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge and understanding of AP Style.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Experience writing content for a college applicant audience is preferred.

  • Knowledge of content management systems and email marketing applications.

  • Knowledge of social media trends, branding and marketing strategies.

  • Organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to handle multiple tasks under pressure and meet deadlines.

  • Ability to take initiative, be creative and self-motivated.

  • Interpersonal/human relation skills; collaborative and cooperative approach to coworkers.

  • Ability to adapt to work environment changes, and relate to a diverse population.

  • Ability to manage internal stakeholders.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Attention to detail and commitment to high quality service.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree; supplemented with three (3) years of relevant work experience.

  • Slate experience preferred

Remote/In-person Expectations

This position will require the individual to work in the office with the flexibility to work a hybrid schedule, up to two days per week remotely, upon completion of the first 6 months of initial onsite training and familiarizing with department work and operations in compliance with the requirements of the SLU Remote Staff Flexible Work Policy.
