Your Qualifications
- A degree from an accredited nursing school, preferably a Bachelor of Nursing andcurrent registered nursing license in the state ofGeorgia.
- 3-5 years of Clinical Nursing experience
- Occupational health and safety experience and OSHA training preferred but not necessary.
- Prior experience with GeorgiaWorkers Compensation case management and claims management as well as federal laws related to Worker's Compensation, and legislation regarding confidentiality.
- Ability to analyze and make sound judgements to accurately document and maintain appropriate confidentiality of medical records.
- Ability to communicate effectively with employees, physicians/medical professionals, and other outside parties.
- Intermediate proficiency with MS Office suite
- Possess excellent written communication skills and the ability to document decision, agreements, and orders made.
Your Purpose: You will be reporting directly to the Health & Safety Manager, and you will be in daily contact with managers, supervisors, administrative staff, hourly employees, contractors, & safety representatives regarding injuries, first aid treatment, annual hearing tests, wellness initiatives (including EAP), first aid kit suppliesand disability management issues. You will be responsible for implementing and evaluating strategies to facilitate maximum medical improvement for employees to return to work when possible and then establish case-specific target return-to-work dates. Your Work:
- Conduct or oversee the Case Management of all Gerdau Cartersville Workers Compensation claims.
- Manage Workers' Compensation Claims and Intelex accident and incident informational data entry for the Company and may conduct and/or assist in accident investigations overseen by the Safety Team and Gerdau Cartersville Leaders.
- Work with physicians to evaluate the health of employees.
- Prepare accident reports for Workers' Compensation Claims and other purposes.
- Act as an employee advocate and follow up with physicians to ensure quality care.
- Ensure compliance with select OSHA safety standards as designated by skills, experience, and the Safety Manager.
- Lead applicable Gerdau Health & Safety elements and oversees the implementation of those elements.
- Conduct annual hearing tests, visual acuity/depth perception tests.
- Train employees in ergonomics and first Aid/CPR. Assists the Site Health and safety Manager on the Site Ergonomics Program and Ergonomic committee.
- Train contracted security on Breath Alcohol Testing (BAT)
- Perform Infectious Disease Control Officer duties.
- Lead hydration program on Fruit/Liquids and Education on Heat Stress and Illness.
- Team Lead and Trainer for Confined Space Rescuer, Emergency Response, First Aid/CPR, Bloodborne Pathogens, EMTs, and part of safety orientation for new hires.
- Participating in Daily Safety hours.
- Perform Hazard Assessments for Job Functions.
- Assign safety glasses and ear plug fittings for new hires.
- Counseling employees on physical and mental health issues and concerns and guiding them toward community resources and employee assistance programs.
- Organizing health fairs, blood drives, vaccination drives.
- Acting as a gatekeeper for various healthcare services, including rehabilitation and disability matters.
- Treating, documenting, investigating, and managing work-related injuries and illnesses, including follow-ups and Workers' Compensation.
- Scheduling physical exams for new hires and return-to-work.
- Maintaining medical supplies inventory.
- Researching the effects of workplace exposures, gathering health and hazard data.
- Overseeing and implementing emergency and disaster preparedness programs and planning.
- Developing disease prevention programs, like smoking cessation, exercise, and healthy eating programs
