The Position Job TitleTreasurer Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Corporate Treasurer to lead our Treasury Operations at First United Bank. This individual will be responsible for managing the bank's liquidity, capital, funding, interest rate risk, and investment portfolio. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of banking regulations, capital markets, and financial risk management, and plays a key role in ensuring financial stability and supporting business growth.

Major Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

Liquidity & Funding:

  • Manage short-term and long-term liquidity positions to ensure adequacy under normal and stress scenarios.
  • Oversee the development and execution of the bank's funding strategy across wholesale and retail channels.
  • Optimize the use of secured and unsecured borrowing facilities (e.g., FHLB, Fed Discount Window).

Capital:

  • Develop and execute capital strategies to optimize and support balance sheet growth plans. This including managing and developing the Company's annual Capital Plan.

Interest Rate Risk / Asset-Liability Management:

  • Chair or actively participate in the ALCO (Asset Liability Committee) and own key ALM models.
  • Oversee interest rate risk and liquidity risk modeling, including EVE and NII simulations.
  • Align balance sheet strategy with macroeconomic and regulatory trends.

Investment Portfolio Oversight:

  • Manage the bank's securities portfolio in accordance with risk appetite and investment policy guidelines.
  • Provide oversight on the bank's investment securities portfolio with a focus on yield, duration, credit, and regulatory constraints.
  • Monitor AFS and HTM book performance and evaluate repositioning opportunities.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory liquidity and capital requirements and Enterprise-Wide Stress testing.
  • Strong understating of Basel III, FRB SR letters, FDIC, stress testing, and regulatory reporting

Treasury Operations & Controls:

  • Establish and maintain sound treasury policies, procedures, and internal controls.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Collaborate with regulators, auditors, rating agencies, and internal departments including Risk, Finance, and ALCO.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing treasury team.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, Risk, Compliance, Product Management and Lending divisions.

Strategic Input:

  • Provide insights and recommendations to senior management and the Board on funding, capital, balance sheet hedging and macroeconomic conditions.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Adherence to First United Policies and Procedures
  • Complete all required compliance exams on an annual basis
  • Perform other duties as assigned

EMPLOYEE SPECIFICATIONS

Knowledge and Skills Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related field (Master's or MBA preferred)
  • Professional certifications (e.g., CFA, CPA, CTP) are a plus
  • 10+ years experience in banking treasury, corporate finance, or financial risk management, with an emphasis on Corporate Treasury or an Assistant Treasurer experience
  • Proven experience managing a bank's balance sheet and engaging with ALCO
  • In-depth understanding of capital markets, balance sheet management, and treasury risk
  • Familiarity with Basel III, stress testing, and regulatory reporting
  • Excellent leadership, analytical, and communication skills
  • Experience with ALM and FTP software (e.g., QRM, BancWare, Empyrean, etc.)
