About The Position | Major goals and objectives

Food & Wine is seeking an Associate Editorial Director, Food to oversee its food editorial vision and operations. You should have a strong foundation as a leader and manager, as a writer, editor, and multi-media storyteller, and have a passion for food and culinary expertise. You will oversee a team of food editors, develop and execute a strategy for best-in-class content and user experience to grow the Food & Wine audience, support revenue goals, and increase engagement.

In this role, you will report to and work closely with the Editor-in-Chief, Senior Editorial Director, Editorial Director, and General Manager. You will create a data-informed audience-driven food content strategy and manage a team of editors to produce high-quality content and editorial programs for all brand platforms including FoodandWine.com, the magazine, social and email channels, and other extensions.

As the food editorial lead, you will also partner regularly with shared digital and magazine teams including marketing, email, design, growth, video, food studios, social strategy, commerce, sales, print, PR, and more to support brand growth priorities.

The Associate Editorial Director will feel extremely comfortable using data and insights to guide content strategy. Comfort working in a fast-paced environment is essential. They are responsible for managing projects to be completed on time, enforcing Food Department deadlines, tracking and analyzing content performance. It's crucial for this role to maintain a good relationship with the Food Studios through daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines and touchpoints. Good communication, organization and efficient time management are paramount to our success.

About The Positions Contributions:

Weight % Accountabilities, Actions and Expected Measurable Results

  • 20%: Oversee food editorial vision and strategy for Food & Wine print and digital platforms and brand extensions. Manage execution of editorial initiatives to meet goals and create an optimal editorial experience for our readers in the magazine and all digital platforms, including digital, social and syndication partners.

  • 20%: Work with the Editor-in-Chief and other brand editorial leaders to guide the creation of on-brand, cross-platform content that is digitally-performant and addresses our audience growth goals. Work with the General Manager, Senior Editorial Director, Editorial Director, and Editor-in-Chief to develop and implement the editorial vision, mission, strategy and operational plans against established budget and goals.

  • 20%: Collaborate with food editors, art, photo, and Food Studios to deliver high quality recipe images. Oversee the digital and print food editorial calendar, day-to-day, issue-to-issue

  • 10%: Provide training, guidance and best practices on content and projects.

  • 10%: Clearly communicate team priorities as they evolve and remove barriers to productivity so staff members can adjust their work to meet changing goals.

The Role's Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent training and/or experience.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience writing, editing, and curating digital food/drinks content for a large digital publisher, including 2+ years in a managerial position.

Specific Knowledge, Skills, Certifications and Abilities:

  • A strong passion for food and culinary expertise. Experience in food media, culinary school, or other food-related experience is preferred but not required but required.

  • Self-driven; high degree of collaboration, organization, and positivity; ability to thrive in a fast-changing environment.

  • Able to meet strict deadlines and prioritize accordingly. Very organized.

  • Proficient in using CMS and editorial production tools

  • SEO Research: SEMRush, Google Trends and other data insights

  • Analytics tools, such as Looker, Google Analytics

  • Digital content workflow tools, such as AirTable

Pay Range

Salary: New York: $90,000.00 - $110,300.00

The pay range above represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position and may change in the future. Actual pay may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to work location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Dotdash Meredith's total compensation package for employees. Other compensation may include annual bonuses, and short- and long-term incentives.
