Acara Solutions seeks highly qualified candidates to work ON-SITE with our client in Galesburg, IL. Interested?

Here's what you'd do:

  • Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Project Engineer is responsible for the technical aspects of projects to supply large capital food processing equipment to customers.
  • The project engineer is the customer's primary technical interface, working with sales, project management, and the service group to ensure equipment meets expectations.
  • The project engineer leads the design effort and provides guidance on component specifications, equipment sizing, and detailed design specifications.
  • Design of industrial food processing and packaging equipment models in Autodesk Inventor 3D.
  • Drafting equipment layout/installation drawings, piping and instrumentation drawings, and process flow diagrams in AutoCAD 2D.
  • Develop the project Motor and Device List as necessary.
  • Review customer specifications, commercial documents, and internal standards documentation to determine the scope of the project supply.
  • Work with the Application Engineer to develop project concept layouts and quote specifications.
  • Organize and participate in peer review meetings to generate and review Risk Assessments.
  • Sizing mechanical and powertrain components (shafts, bearings, sprockets, gearboxes).
  • Sizing fluid flow components (valves and pumps) and specification of purchased components (sensors and switches).
  • Monitor design and customer drawing release schedules to ensure the project is not delayed.
  • We support equipment fabrication progress through our factory, which has a complete machine shop, sheet metal shop with laser and waterjet, and welding assembly shop.
  • Work with our field service group to support equipment installation, start-up, and commissioning.
  • Mobility is needed to review equipment during construction and commissioning off-site.

Here's what you'll get:

Pay: $83000 - $93000 / year.

Hours: 40 hrs/Week.

Length: Direct Placement.

Job Requirements
Required Skills / Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Food Engineering.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in CAD, including 3-D modeling and drafting.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in design and manufacturability (DFM).
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in Microsoft Office.
Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
  • Experience with FEA modeling.
  • Experience in food processing equipment, but analytical ability is most important.
  • Experience working with SAP.
  • Experience with Piping Design.

Additional Information:

  • Upon offer of employment, the individual will be subject to a background check and a drug screen.
  • Occasional travel to customer facilities for meetings and equipment troubleshooting.
  • Overtime work is needed.
