The Opportunity

We are seeking a Manager of Regulatory and Compliance Engineering to support our team in ensuring that our Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) products comply with federal and state regulations. This includes products such as Air and Water Source VRF systems, Single and Multi-Split systems, Indoor Units, Heat Recovery Units, chillers, water heating solutions, and an expanding range of other HVAC products. You will manage product-related compliance inquiries, develop educational materials, and provide regulatory and compliance guidance to our Product Management team. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in shaping the regulatory and compliance strategies for future product developments.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Product and Regulatory Strategy Alignment: Align product applications with regulatory and compliance requirements, ensuring that product strategies align with industry standards and regulatory expectations.
  • Regulatory Strategy Development: Develop and implement a cohesive regulatory strategy, ensuring that it aligns with the product offering and company goals.
  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Work with teams across departments to gather input and feedback before engaging with regulatory bodies, including state and federal agencies, to influence the development of codes and regulations that affect our products.
  • Technical Oversight: Ensure that finalized product-related regulatory requirements, including technical specifications, are addressed and planned for in product development, particularly in relation to technical issues.
  • Policy and Procedure Development: Assist in the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures related to product compliance, ensuring they meet regulatory requirements.
  • Compliance Monitoring: Support adherence to company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to product compliance.
  • Change Control Management: Review the company's change controls to ensure they align with regulatory requirements for product-related modifications.
  • Reporting: Prepare and submit compliance-related reports to senior management as required.
  • Regulatory Evaluation: Provide regulatory evaluations for due diligence activities and assist management in understanding the technical aspects of federal regulations (e.g., DOE, EPA), building codes, state energy and building codes (e.g., CEC), and industry association standards (e.g., ASHRAE, AHRI).
  • Project Participation: Participate in various projects to support ongoing business needs related to regulatory and compliance activities.


Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the US commercial and/or residential HVAC industry, with a focus on regulatory evaluation, including expertise in federal regulatory energy (DOE), federal environmental (EPA), building codes, state energy and building codes (e.g., CEC), and industry association standards (e.g., ASHRAE, AHRI).
  • Advanced knowledge and regulatory expertise in interpreting and analyzing written regulations, with strong technical writing skills and a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong judgment and decision-making abilities, problem solving particularly in investigating and addressing regulatory and compliance issues.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with colleagues at all levels of the organization using strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with industry organizations and regulatory bodies, with exposure to regulatory processes and compliance activities


This base pay range is based on US national averages. Actual base pay could be a result of seniority, merit, geographic location where the work is performed. This position provides an incentive bonus.

Recruiting Range
$140,000 - $165,000 USD
