The Opportunity:

This is an entry level position. Under the supervision of the Product Engineering Manager, the Product Development Engineer is responsible for the design and integrity (safety, functionality and reliability) of new products. The person appointed to this position will closely collaborate with Product Designers, Project Managers, Marketers and other cross-functional team members throughout the development process, from initial concept all the way through production, to efficiently create the best toys on Earth!

What Your Impact Will Be:

  • Evaluate preliminary product concepts with the Design group, ensuring the design is feasible for function and manufacturing.
  • Innovate on new concepts utilizing the latest consumer technology.
  • Create physical and digital models to prove product functionality and safety.
  • Define and document product performance requirements.
  • Review physical products and parts, generating feedback to various members of the development organization.
  • Pursue projects related to; optimization of our engineering workstream, outlining development standards, and technology utilization.

What We're Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 0-2 years of experience in consumer products, plastics and/or other mechanical areas.
  • Knowledge of plastic part design, mechanisms and the injection molding process.
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling (PTC Creo).
  • Excellent communication skills (interpersonal, verbal and written) to effectively convey ideas to diverse and international cross-functional team members.
  • Ability to direct multiple projects at once in an organized manner, while prioritizing tasks to ensure that deadlines are met.
  • Excellent ability to find practical technical solutions.
  • Ability to work in a team and work independently.
  • Proficient with MS Office applications.
  • Hands on experience in the use of both shop tools and technical lab equipment.
  • Ability to travel internationally to support product development.
  • Ability to take initiative and be self-directed.
  • Demonstrated agrowth mindset by staying curious and continuously learning, embracing challenges, and improving themselves.

The annual base salary range for this position is between $60,000 and $75,000.

**This range is indicative of projected hiring range, however annual base salary will be determined based on a candidate's work location, skills and experience.Mattel offers competitive total pay programs, comprehensive benefits, and resources to help empower a culture where every employee can reach their full potential.
