We are seeking an experienced Service Manager with a strong background in the heavy-duty diesel truck and equipment industry to lead our service department. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of building and managing high-performing teams of technicians, ensuring exceptional customer service, and driving operational efficiency. This role requires technical expertise, leadership skills, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Team Leadership: Recruit, train, mentor, and lead a team of skilled technicians, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Service Operations: Oversee daily operations of the service department, including scheduling, work order management, and quality control to ensure timely and accurate repairs.
  • Customer Service: Act as the primary point of contact for customers, addressing concerns, providing updates, and ensuring high levels of satisfaction.
  • Technical Expertise: Utilize in-depth knowledge of heavy-duty diesel trucks and equipment to guide technicians, troubleshoot complex issues, and ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Performance Management: Set performance goals, monitor technician productivity, and implement strategies to improve efficiency and service quality.
  • Inventory and Equipment Management: Manage parts inventory, tools, and shop equipment to ensure availability and cost-effectiveness.
  • Safety and Compliance: Enforce safety protocols, ensure adherence to OSHA and industry regulations, and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Financial Oversight: Monitor department budgets, control costs, and contribute to profitability through effective resource management and pricing strategies.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements, implement new technologies, and stay updated on industry trends to enhance service offerings.


Qualifications:



  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in the heavy-duty diesel truck and equipment industry, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to build, motivate, and lead a team of technicians to achieve departmental goals.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of diesel engine systems, hydraulics, electrical systems, and diagnostic tools specific to heavy duty trucks and equipment.
  • Customer Focus: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to delivering outstanding customer service.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., ASE, CDL, or manufacturer-specific credentials) are highly desirable.
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in service management software, diagnostic tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in automotive or diesel technology, business management, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience will be accepted.
