About the McGrath Outpatient Pavilion: Located in Hillcrest, the McGrath Outpatient Pavilion is a state-of-the-art, 250,000-square-foot medical facility designed to meet the growing healthcare needs of our region. Spanning six floors, this advanced facility is home to key clinical programs and offers specialized diagnostic, treatment, and surgical services. With a strong emphasis on cancer care, we are committed to delivering world-class medical services in a patient-centered environment.

These positions will all have interchangeable locations between Hillcrest, La Jolla and East Campus Medical Centers based on business needs.

Under general supervision, the Patient Access Lead is responsible for overseeing day to day staff duties. Typical duties include staff coverage for all patient access department points of entry, performing patient account analysis to ensure accounts are financially secured, and reducing financial loss for the organization. Serves as a liaison for physician/patient care staff and patient/families. Provides training and technical resource to staff, assists management in assessing problem areas related to accuracy and procedural deficiencies, assists with staff performance evaluation and complies with cash handling standards.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Three (3) years Patient Access experience in large, complex healthcare environment.

  • Advanced knowledge of Patient Access/Admissions/Registration functions.

  • Thorough knowledge of insurance, third party payors and authorization process.

  • Proven understanding of the patient referral and authorization process.

  • Highly proficient with MS Office: Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, etc.

  • Familiar with hospital patient access systems.

  • Superb customer service skills. Excellent communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Billing experience.

  • Authorization Experience.

  • Knowledge of the overall Revenue Cycle process.

  • EPIC Prelude Application.

  • Experience in a hospital setting.

  • Epic Registration.

  • Lead or Supervisory experience.

  • Inpatient admissions including transfers and direct admit.

  • Knowledge of birth certificate process.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.

  • Must be able to work overtime if required.

  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $63,016 - $78,384 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $30.18 - $37.54

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
