Overview
The Luau Show Fire Knife Dancer will work under the supervision of the Luau Stage Manager and work in conjunction with the Luau Show Line Captains to assist with the daily operations of the Luau Show. This performer needs to have a strong understanding of Polynesian culture, particularly Samoan traditions, and the ability to safely execute high-energy routines involving fire and traditional knife dancing. The ideal candidate is a captivating entertainer who can engage and excite audiences while honoring the cultural roots of this dramatic art form. $37.50 training rate, $200 Show

Qualifications
Physical requirements:
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, twist, reach, bend, and stoop frequently.
- Frequent repetitive hand, wrist, and body motion.
- Occasionally using the stairs
- Light work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
Essential Job Requirements:
- Proven experience in a show production role or equivalent.
- Must be able to work in conjunction with the Director of Food and Beverage, Luau Show Stage Manager, F&B Luau Manager/Supervisor, and Luau Staff.
- Must be able to interact with fellow co-workers, managers/supervisors, guests and others with respect and honesty.
- Must be able to work cohesively with fellow co-workers, and managers/supervisors as part of a team.
- Must attend all scheduled rehearsals, training, and hotel required meetings.
- Must have a positive attitude.
- Must be able to read and write in the English language.
- Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written, with all levels of management, employees, guests and others in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner.
- Must be able to approach all encounters with management, employees, guests and others in an attentive, friendly courteous and service-oriented manner
- Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by management, employees, guests, and others.
- Must have excellent decision-making skills and be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.
- Must be detail oriented and able to perform job functions with accuracy.
- Must be able to multitask and prioritize duties and functions according to the Luau Show's needs to meet deadlines.
- Must be available for flexible scheduling to meet the needs of the Luau Show including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Must be flexible and able to adjust to position changes nightly according to the needs of the Luau Show.
- Must comply with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
- Must comply with all departmental and company policies.
- Must be able to maintain confidential information.
- Must perform other duties as directed/assigned by managers/supervisors.
General Job Requirements:
- Must maintain a nice, kind, warm and friendly demeanor and be an Ambassador of Aloha Spirit at all times.
- Must show up to work on time, at the start of your scheduled shift and ready to work., fully dressed in accordance to the Luau Show's standards.
- Must possess Hawaiian/Polynesian dance skills to perform the dance numbers in the show.
- Must have the ability to follow directions and take critiques and adjust as necessary.
- Must be self-motivated and able to learn quickly.
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
- Must maintain regular attendance in compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the Luau Show.
- Must possess high level of technical proficiency, physical ability and physical fitness.
- Must maintain personal hygiene, appearance and grooming according to the Highgate standards.
- Must maintain the physical appearance including hair color/style as follows:
- No visible tan lines anywhere on the body.
- No radical hair style/colors must look natural.
- Must be clean shaven and no facial hair.
- Must be able to fit into the costumes as provided.
- Must perform other duties as directed/assigned by supervisor/management.
