SUMMARY:

The position of Medical Director for The People Concern enables the agency to elevate the provision of not just psychiatry services, but mental health services across all programs. By having one person oversee this service entity, the agency is building capacity for the increase in hours with the development of new Department of Mental Health and Department of Health Services programs, as well as adding multiple components of service enrichment for clients as well as staff. A Medical Director has the capacity to meet with clients for direct (billable) services, offer regular case consultation, provide supervision to non-board certified psychiatrists, and offer training to staff regarding the intersection of health, mental health, and addiction medicine. In order to provide a competitive package for this position that is able to sustain itself using DMH contracted funds, I would like to propose the following:

  • Direct service billing requirement of a minimum of 22 hours per week on DMH contracts
  • Provide supervision to Non-Board Certified Residents
  • Attend Downtown Mental Health Services Case Conference Weekly
  • Provide consultation on challenging cases agency-wide
  • Recruitment of new psychiatrists to fit agency demand
  • Provide agency-wide trainings on health, mental health, and addiction medicine topics

Work Environment:

  • Must be able to stand and walk for 6-8 hours
  • Regularly required to stand, bend; occasionally lift or carry up to 35 lbs.
  • On occasion walk or drive to different local sites
  • Will necessitate working in busy and loud environments
  • Will be exposed to elements like cold, heat, dust, noise and odor
  • May need to bend, stoop, twist, and sit throughout the day

EXPECTED BEHAVIORS OF ALL STAFF

  1. Act as a role model
  2. Demonstrate a sense of responsibility
  3. Continuously learn and improve
  4. Acknowledge your own areas of improvement
  5. Hear and provide honest, specific and direct feedback
  6. Create an environment where everyone is welcomed valued and respected
  7. Collaborate
