Job Description

Purpose

Perform necessary repairs and preventative maintenance on all plant production, facilities, and auxiliary equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform all duties in a safe and efficient manner while understanding all LOTO policies, procedures, and applicable work instructions in the areas designated.

  • Accountable for all projects, repairs and/or improvement on the line as well as any mold changes and preventative maintenance.

  • Ensure proper and safe operational conditions of all production and related equipment.

  • Improve the production equipment, utilities, efficiency and reliability.

  • Recommend, plan, repair, modify, create, install and adjust all the necessary elements following a problem or a project, which may have an effect on the productivity.

  • Analyze and resolve all issues related to the equipment.

  • Ensure Service Technicians are scheduled for required repairs/upgrades.

  • Review Visual management boards and address issues in a timely manner as they arise.

  • Ensure production equipment is performing to 87% company standard and addressing any deficiencies.

  • Report to Maintenance Manager the progress of projects, general maintenance improvement needs.

  • Create and/or revise work instructions.

  • Ensure needed parts are on site for upcoming PM's and rebuilds.

  • Ensure cleanliness of all equipment and related areas after repairs or PM's.

  • Maintain all tools to be kept in a clean and safe condition and ensure tools are returned to their appropriate locations (i.e. toolbox, parts room, job box, mezzanine, maintenance shop, or department area cabinet).

  • Assist in updating, developing and improving equipment PM programs.

  • Communicate the condition of all production and auxiliary equipment to the Maintenance Supervisor.

  • Direct and advise production employees when they help with repairs and ensure their safety.

  • Assist and train production employees in machine product changeovers and PM's.

  • Assist in machine operations if the need arises.

  • Assist in maintaining appropriate stock of spare parts, ensuring parts inventory is up-to-date, and leaving parts room organized, clean and tidy.

  • Assist contractors in machine and building repairs. Assist other maintenance employees with repairs, PM, installation, commissioning and testing of equipment.

  • Drive Process Control procedures.

  • Flexible - if Over Time is required and or Vacation coverage as needed.

  • Must be available for on-call duty including weekends and holidays.

Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required

  • Electro-mechanic or mechanical certification preferred

Experience and Qualifications

  • 18-24 months experience as a Maintenance Technician.

  • Excellent verbal and written skills.

  • The ability to read, write and speak English relating to operation of machine and quality specifications.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

  • Mastery of multiple pieces of equipment.

Supervisory Responsibilities

None

Level of Authority

The Maintenance II has the authority to shut down production equipment to prevent the production of defective product and place product on hold if it does not meet the customer/company specification.

Training Requirements

The Maintenance II has the responsibility to successfully complete the levels position training program.
