All about the role:

The Warehousing Controller will be responsible for providing financial insights, forecasting, and analysis to support strategic decision-making within the warehousing and logistics function. This role ensures that financial objectives are aligned with operational goals and helps optimize the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of warehousing operations.

What you'll do:

Financial Planning and Analysis:

  • Develop, analyze, and manage budgets for warehousing operations, including labor, overhead, and capital expenditures.
  • Conduct variance analysis between actual and budgeted financial performance, providing actionable recommendations.
  • Prepare long-term financial forecasts based on operational trends and business strategies.

Cost Optimization:

  • Analyze warehousing costs, including storage, labor, transportation, and inventory carrying costs.
  • Partner with operations teams to identify cost-saving opportunities and process improvements.
  • Support strategic initiatives to reduce expenses while maintaining or improving service levels.

Performance Monitoring:

  • Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as mix adjusted variable cost, E&O and LCM inventory adjustments, returns logistics, damage claims, scrap, space utilization, and labor productivity.
  • Provide financial support for continuous improvement initiatives in warehousing and logistics.
  • Assess the financial impact of operational decisions and recommend changes to maximize profitability.

Strategic Decision Support:

  • Collaborate with supply chain and operations teams to evaluate potential warehouse expansions, consolidations, or relocations.
  • Perform financial modeling for capital investment projects, such as automation or new technology implementations.
  • Support the evaluation of third-party warehousing contracts and vendor negotiations.

Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Develop and maintain financial models and dashboards to provide real-time visibility into warehousing financial performance.
  • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to senior leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting, and budgeting tools.
  • Deep understanding of warehousing and logistics operations.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and detail-oriented.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to align financial strategies with operational goals.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and the ability to work with large datasets.
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with ERP systems (SAP) and BI tools (Power BI) is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on actionable recommendations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in financial analysis, preferably within warehousing, logistics, or supply chain functions.
