Sr. Analyst, Freight Payables

Job Summary

The Senior Analyst, Freight Payables, is responsible for overseeing all aspects of freight audit and payment, as well as related accrual accounting analytics for the NAM and LTAM Logistics/Customs group. This role demands strong expertise in Accounting and Finance to support ongoing spend and outstanding payable analytics, assisting the Kontoor Finance and Logistics Operations Team with monthly and quarterly accrual processing. Additionally, this position serves as the liaison for all transportation third-party financial invoicing application

Responsibilities

  • Freight Accruals:Collaborate with Accounting and FP&A staff to determine monthly/quarterly freight accrual figures across all NAM/LTAM transportation modes- by "owning" the review of SOAs versus Invoices processed or disputed.
  • Freight Auditing and Payment:Support NAM/LTAM Domestic & International Logistics in executing transportation freight auditing and payment. Work with internal teams (Logistics, Accounts Payable) and external partners (carriers, freight forwarders) to audit and process invoices efficiently, resolving any issues such as rate disputes.
  • Statement of Account Reviews:Periodically review carrier and freight forwarder accounts to ensure all invoices are accounted for in payment, dispute, or accrual.
  • Analytics and Reporting:Provide monthly data and statistics on outstanding payables and claims for inclusion in Monthly or Quarterly Business Reviews, and present these statistics during reviews.
  • Process Improvement:Conduct ongoing analytics and process improvement studies to automate and streamline freight audit/payables, SOA reviews, and accrual determinations through extensive Excel manipulation/analysis skills
  • Month-End Close:Assist in the month-end close process and perform variance analysis compared to forecast and standard cost.
  • Data Quality Assurance:Work with the logistics data analytics team to ensure data quality between carrier invoices, contracts, SOAs, and shipment data within various systems (SAP, Infor Nexus, CASS, etc.).
  • Reporting Management:Manage carrier monthly statement of account uploads and run monthly reporting for the Finance team using PowerBI.
  • Invoice Management:Oversee carrier invoice submissions to Infor Nexus, including addressing incorrect or missing invoices and coordinating with providers for corrections and resubmissions.

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years in Accounts Payable, Finance, or Accounting.

Education

  • B.A./B.S. Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

Skills

  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, formulas, and v-lookups.
  • Data analytics experience to organize, analyze, and interpret data to identify and action opportunities.
  • Proven organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task efficiently in a cross-functional, fast-paced team environment.
  • Ability to work independently as needed.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to meet deadlines and perform under pressure.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and across departments.

Additional Qualifications

  • Advanced Excel Skills:Proficiency in advanced Excel functions, including macros and VBA.
  • ERP Systems Experience:Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms.
  • Project Management:Experience in managing projects, including planning, execution, and monitoring.
  • Communication Skills:Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Attention to Detail:High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of work.
  • Problem-Solving:Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically and propose effective solutions.
