Ketjen Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Albemarle Corporation, is seeking a FST Lab Technician. The position will be based out of the Pasadena, TX site.

FST Lab technician working in the Testing Operations department of R&T will carry out routine catalyst testing protocols for customer service and R&D customers. This technician will work in an environment that demands independent drive and responsibility, flexibility, and consistent attention to detail.

The FST lab technician is a vital part of the testing operations group. This position operates as a team to test bench scale R&D FCC catalyst and FCC refinery Equilibrium Catalyst using Gas Chromatography, Carbon Analysis, and Fluidized Bed simulation testing equipment. Applicant should be responsible and resourceful, as well as possess solid communication and data management skills. FST units are technical and complex, so applicants should have strong mechanical aptitude and problem solving skills as well.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate teamwork and communication skills within R&D and BARQ departments
  • Proactively identify, and resolve or escalate issues in safety, data quality, or execution of methods to appropriate leadership in a timely fashion
  • Learn and master procedures quickly, and execute according to the SOP to guarantee consistency in data
  • Ensure assigned work is scheduled effectively according to communicated priorities to maximize efficiency
  • Routinely maintain instruments proactively as scheduled to ensure minimal downtime and maximize confidence in unit stability
  • Maintain exemplary housekeeping of the lab to and ensure work is carried out safely
  • Adhere to all safety, legal, and corporate policies
  • Teamwork and effective communication under pressure
  • Ability to deliver results safely, with high quality, and within an environment of consistent workload
  • Confidence to communicate appropriately issues and abnormal results to supervisors or management
  • Strong interest in continuous learning to broaden and deepen skill set, contributions and roles within the Testing Operations Group

Requirements:

  • Education: Associates (or higher) in Chemistry
  • Experience: 12 months minimum laboratory experience
  • Experience: Familiar with testing and evaluation of FCC catalyst
