Description

We are seeking a highly skilled SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) to support and manage both on-premise and cloud-based SQL Server databases. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring the operation of SQL Server environments, troubleshooting database issues, and performing database restoration tasks. Additionally, they will provide user support, manage system configurations, and analyze data to optimize system performance and reliability. The candidate should be able to understand and develop software solutions that enhance and support their database management responsibilities.

What you'll do:



  • Install, configure, and monitor both on-premise and cloud-based SQL Server environments.
  • Perform routine database maintenance, including version upgrades, backups, and database restoration.
  • Troubleshoot SQL Server-related issues, ensuring system availability and performance.
  • Provide data analysis and create custom reports.
  • Assist with configuring and managing data feeds to and from SQL Server across on-premise and cloud systems.
  • Monitor and manage the security, performance, and availability of SQL Server instances and databases.
  • Willingness to respond to critical database issues after hours and during weekends, as required.


What you'll bring:



  • Proven experience with SQL Server installation, configuration, administration and cloud migration.
  • Expertise in SQL Server performance tuning, optimization, and troubleshooting.
  • Expertise in writing and optimizing complex SQL queries for data extraction, manipulation, and performance tuning in SQL Server environments.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based platforms (AWS, Azure) and managing cloud SQL instances.
  • Familiarity with a broad set of SQL Server on-premise versions, including, but not limited to SQL Server 2008 R2, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2019.
  • Proficiency with Git and version control systems, including managing database changes and scripts.
  • Knowledge of backup strategies, disaster recovery, and data restoration best practices.
  • Developer mindset with an ability to solve problems creatively including experience with Python for automating tasks and improving data workflows.
  • Ability to troubleshoot data issues and provide data-driven solutions.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple database systems simultaneously.


Ideal Experience:



  • Experience managing SQL Server environments, both on-premise and in the cloud.
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL, Oracle SQL, and PostgreSQL databases, including optimization, troubleshooting, performance monitoring, and other complex database-related issues.
  • Experience with cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure) for database management, including migration and scaling of databases.
  • Experience in providing technical support for database environments, including user troubleshooting and maintaining system performance.
  • Proficiency in Python and PowerShell is highly preferred for automating tasks, managing databases, and supporting system administration.


Ideal Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, Microsoft Certified: SQL Server, Oracle Certified Professional) are a plus.


This position will have an annual salary of $142,950 - $155,000
