Job Description:

Provides leadership for the southwest Allina Health EMS region, including oversight of financial and operational performance. Ensures increased revenue through annual planning and business strategy. Provides leadership and oversight of licensed primary service areas and contracted EMS operations as well as the Allina Health EMS Communication Center. Aligns programs and services with Allina's mission, vision, values and strategies.

Principle Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership for organizational strategic planning, growth and business development.
    • Provides leadership to the AHEMS Communication Center, ensuring meeting Center of Excellence Accreditation standards.
    • Designs and implements strategies and initiatives to achieve operational goals and objectives.
    • Enhances services resulting in clinical, financial and operational excellence and growth.
    • Develops relationships with community agencies that promote the system and nurtures business partnerships.
    • Establishes a systematic process of assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating actions when adding or deleting services.
    • Oversees the design of system solutions to improve operational efficiency and consistency.
    • Analyzes market data and identifies business opportunities.
    • Facilitates with the Union(s) on-going communications and working relationships and serves as co-lead for meetings and contract negotiations with recognized employee organizations.
    • Maintains current knowledge of employee and labor relation trends, legal decisions and statutory changes; conducts research to support negotiations and employee relations.
    • Partners with other leadership as needed to establish, plan and execute strategic initiatives.
  • Accountable for setting and meeting budget and productivity targets.
    • Manages the budget process, plans revenues and cash flow to ensure financial viability.
    • Monitors key financial indicators and addresses variances.
    • Participates in the development of long-range plans for capital expenditures and resources based on the business plan, operational needs, and the safety of patients and staff.
    • Ensures contracts and contracting processes are up-to-date and in compliance with applicable policies and regulations.
  • Manages employees and holds them accountable for role responsibilities, competencies, individual performance and goals.
    • Supports and partners to implement workforce, educational and other programs applicable to scope and impact of operation.
    • Provides oversight to the ongoing coaching, assessment, development, training and education of employees.
    • Responsible for the engagement of employees and contributing to the annual engagement plan.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Business or Healthcare Administration, Emergency Preparedness or related field
  • 7 years in healthcare or EMS operations experience
  • 10 years progressive leadership roles in EMS or healthcare experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Business, Healthcare or related field
  • Experience in managing an emergency call center or experience with emergency call center technology

Licenses/Certifications

  • Certified paramedic MN Emergency Medical Services Regulatory Board required
  • Valid Driver's License required upon hire - MN and WI residents must obtain a valid driver's license in their state of residence within 60 days of employment

Pay Range

Pay Range: $69.90 to $96.71 per hour The pay described reflects the base hiring pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience and education. Additional incentives may be available, including discretionary monetary bonuses, goal-based bonuses, and other financial incentives.
