Job Description
We are seeking a visionary System Director of Nursing Wellness (RN) to lead enterprise-wide strategies that promote nurse well-being, enhance workforce engagement, and drive long-term retention. Reporting directly to the Chief Nursing Officer, this role will champion innovative, evidence-based wellness initiatives and establish a comprehensive culture of support for our nursing teams.   • Design and implement a comprehensive nurse wellness and retention strategy aligned with system-wide goals.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to the CNO on cultural and operational initiatives that support nursing workforce sustainability.
  • Lead innovation in workforce engagement through research-backed practices that mitigate burnout and improve retention.
  • Partner with academic and research organizations to develop cutting-edge models for nurse wellness.
  • Oversee the Nurse Wellness Program, integrating resilience training, trauma-informed care, self-care education, and professional development.
  • Collaborate with nurse preceptors to enhance onboarding experiences and build a culture of mentorship and support for new nurses.
  • Provide direct coaching services to nurses through one-on-one and group sessions focused on burnout recovery and well-being.
  • Establish wellness practices such as mindfulness programs, wellness check-ins, and coaching services across the organization.
  • Use workforce data and real-time feedback to guide retention-focused initiatives and interventions.
  • Lead the Nurse Retention Task Force in collaboration with the Staff Empowerment Council to track engagement and implement proactive strategies.
  • Develop and maintain leadership and mentorship programs that align with career growth, satisfaction, and retention goals.
  • Work with the Violence Prevention Manager to implement support systems for nurses affected by workplace violence.
  • Promote systemic changes in training and support structures, especially for nurse residents, to foster resilience from the start of their careers.
  • Champion quality improvement, safety, and cultural inclusivity in all departmental operations.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Active RN license in Missouri or a compact license with Missouri privileges
  • Board Certified Nurse Coach
  • 7+ years of nursing experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership, coaching, or wellness-related role
  • Demonstrated expertise in burnout prevention, engagement strategy, and workforce coaching
  • Skilled in hospital-wide cultural change and influencing executive decision-making
  • Proficient in various coaching methods, including motivational interviewing and the Transtheoretical Model
  • Strong project management, organizational, and communication skills
  • Technologically proficient in MS Office Suite and HR/project management systems
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Nursing or a related field
  • Board Certified Holistic Nurse
