Overview

We are seeking a Detoxification Charge RN, also referred to as a Substance Abuse Charge RN or Detox Charge Nurse. A Detox Charge RN oversees the care of patients undergoing withdrawal from substances, managing symptoms, administering medications, and ensuring clinical safety through hospital protocols and substance abuse detoxification procedures. They also coordinate staff, handle unit operations, and provide education and support to patients and families throughout the detox process.

Bonus Options: up to $10,000 (Two payout options available)

Shift's Available: Days ($2 to $6 differential in pay)

Employment Type: Full Time

Hours: 7:00am to 7:00pm

Location: Riverview Regional Medical Center - Gadsden, AL

Responsibilities

** If you have experience as a Detox RN with no leadership or Charge experience you are encouraged to apply, no leadership experience needed!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

  • Perform initial and ongoing assessments of patients experiencing withdrawal using standardized tools (e.g., CIWA-Ar for alcohol, COWS for opioids)
  • Administer and titrate medications based on protocol to manage withdrawal symptoms and prevent complications like
  • Monitor vital signs, mental status, and lab results to detect early signs of medical or psychiatric deterioration
  • Supervise nursing and support staff, delegating tasks appropriately and ensuring high-quality care across the detoxification unit
  • Handle crisis situations, including behavioral emergencies or rapid-response events, ensuring swift coordination of care
  • Oversee daily unit operations, including bed management, admissions, and discharges


Qualifications

Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have:

  • Current and valid state RN License
  • Current BLS upon hire and maintain current
  • Current ACLS 30 days upon of hire and maintain current
  • PALS within 30 days of hire for units that admit pediatric patients

Additional Qualifications That Are a Plus:

  • Bachelor Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
  • RN-C within 2 years of hire preferred
