Overview

We are seeking an Orthopedics Charge RN (Nights), also referred to as an Orthopedic Unit Charge RN or Ortho Charge RN. An Ortho Charge RN oversees the care of patients with musculoskeletal injuries and post-surgical needs, ensuring effective pain management, mobility support, and complication prevention through collaboration with the care team. They also manage unit operations, supervise nursing staff, coordinate patient flow, and uphold clinical standards to ensure high-quality, safe, and efficient orthopedic care.

Bonus Options: up to $10,000 (Two payout options available)

Shift's Available: Nights ($4 to $8 differential in pay)

Employment Type: Full Time

Hours: 7:00pm to 7:00am

Location: Riverview Regional Medical Center - Gadsden, AL

Responsibilities

** If you have experience in Orthopedics, Medical Surgical, Telemetry or other critical care areas of nursing, you are encouraged to apply!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

  • Supervise and assist with the care of patients recovering from orthopedic surgeries, monitor for post-operative complications
  • Ensure proper pain management, wound care, and mobility protocols (e.g., early ambulation, use of assistive devices)
  • Administer and oversee medications, such as analgesics, anticoagulants, and antibiotics, in accordance with surgeon-specific hospital protocols
  • Manage the daily operations of the orthopedic unit, including staff assignments, admissions, discharges, and patient flow
  • Act as a clinical resource and mentor for staff nurses and new graduate nurses, offering guidance on orthopedic care standards


Qualifications

Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have:

  • Current and valid state RN License
  • Current BLS upon hire and maintain current
  • Current ACLS 30 days upon of hire and maintain current
  • PALS within 30 days of hire for units that admit pediatric patients

Additional Qualifications That Are a Plus:

  • Bachelor Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
  • RN-C within 2 years of hire preferred
