Position Summary

Our human resources team is looking for a motivated individual to provide responsive and comprehensive consulting in regard to our qualified retirement (DB pension and DC) plans. This individual would help problem solve and provide direction with our retirement plan administrators to ensure compliance, customer focus, and operational excellence. They would also provide support to HR business partners, supervisors and business leaders regarding benefit strategy, communications, and employee issues. For any retirement escalations, they would assist in identifying root cause, recommendations, development, and resolution.

Responsibilities

  • Support on-going administration of the defined benefit and defined contribution plans of the company. Coordinate and/or provide support on projects, such as plan design changes, communication materials, rate cases, union negotiations, testing as a result of amendments or other changes, user interface updates, or system enhancements.

  • Day-to-day liaison for record-keepers, actuaries and consultants. Keep Total Rewards team informed of retirement issues that arise. Evaluate all service providers and make recommendations when appropriate.

  • Contribute to the ongoing enhancement, management, and promotion of our financial wellness programs. Duties include review of vendor proposals, vendor selection, contract sourcing, program implementation, and ongoing administration post-deployment.

  • Establish and maintain internal review processes designed to minimize employee escalations and improve the customer experience

  • Prepare and communicate financial benefit cost projections to key stakeholders in the company

  • Develops, implements and presents communications strategies on retirement evaluations, newsletters, retirement campaigns, current topics, and summary plan descriptions.

  • Research and resolve individual retirement issues, often working directly with HR to communicate directly with employees and retirees.

  • Keeps current on new legislation and regulations that govern qualified plans and monitors compliance. Recommends any required plan changes and oversees implementation.

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders in regard to financial and government reporting, compliance and tax regulations.

  • Prepare and evaluate RFPs, make recommendations for selection. Prepare cost analysis and benchmarking for union negotiations and rate cases.

  • Analysis of financial strategies relative to cost management of retirement and wellness benefits provided.

Required/Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in human resources or related field of study

  • In addition to required degree, three (3) years minimum of related work experience

  • In lieu of Bachelor's degree AND three (3) years minimum of related work experience listed above, High School/GED AND seven (7) years minimum related work experience

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in the retirement industry

  • Experience administering corporate defined benefit and defined contribution plans

  • Strong knowledge of regulatory and legislative matters that impact retirement benefit design/structure/delivery

  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills required to analyze complex issues, develop logical data driven conclusions and make appropriate recommendations.

  • Ability to work both independently and in a team setting with a high attention to detail

  • Ability to work with consultants/vendors in order to prioritize assignments, manage tasks and meet deadlines in connection with business operations, including related ERISA compliance matters

  • Ability to organize and manage multiple simultaneous tasks and prioritize competing workloads

  • Customer service focus

  • Strong consultative, written and oral communication skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

  • Displays effective negotiating skills when dealing with diverse customer expectations.

  • Demonstrated presentation skills and ability to facilitate large/small groups in an effective manner.

  • Effective interpersonal skills, e.g. influencing and listening skills to deal effectively with all levels of employees and management.

Working Conditions

  • 3 days per week onsite

  • Hybrid mobility classification - work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable commute to Duke Energy Plaza.
