Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is seeking a motivated and dedicated RN Manager, Nursing and Patient Care Services to oversee and guide the daily operations of one or more clinical areas within our nationally recognized healthcare system.

About the Role

As the Manager of Nursing and Patient Care Services, you'll be responsible for ensuring the smooth, effective, and compassionate delivery of care within your designated clinical areas. You'll lead by example-modeling best practices, promoting collaboration, and driving performance aligned with Sentara's mission of safety, quality, and patient-centered service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the daily operations of assigned units or departments

  • Foster a high-performing nursing team through coaching, mentorship, and support

  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards

  • Collaborate with physicians, leaders, and staff to enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction

  • Promote professional development and a positive, inclusive work environment

What You'll Need to Succeed

We're looking for a clinical leader who's ready to take the next step in their nursing career-someone who combines compassion with confidence and professionalism with presence.

Required Qualifications:

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia or compact state

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN)

  • Minimum of 5 years of RN experience in a hospital or acute care setting

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior leadership or charge nurse experience

  • Critical Care Experience

  • Strong communication, organizational, and decision-making skills

  • Master's degree in Nursing or Healthcare Administration (a plus)

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, located in Norfolk, VA, is a 525-bed tertiary care facility that is home to the only Level I Adult Trauma Center and burn trauma unit in Hampton Roads, and also serves as the primary teaching hospital for Eastern Virginia Medical School.

In addition to the high-quality heart program at Sentara Heart Hospital, our facility is home to Nightingale Regional Air Ambulance and several other dedicated facilities and specialized services. As a recognized accredited Comprehensive Stroke Center, and Magnet hospital for nursing excellence, our hospital specializes in heart and vascular, neurosciences, neurosurgery, urology, oncology, spine care, advanced imaging, behavioral health, maternity, and women's health, including a state-of-the-art neonatal intensive care unit.
