EnSafe is accepting applications for an Environmental Compliance Specialist to join our team. We are looking for candidates in the Long Beach, CA area.

What We Are Looking For:

An entry level Environmental Compliance Specialist who is detailed-oriented to join our team of professionals and support our clients locally, regionally, and nationally. EnSafe's environmental compliance professionals participate in evaluating the compliance status of industrial facilities, assisting them in applying for and complying with various environmental permits, and helping facilities identify and comply with other environmental obligations. EnSafe is committed to providing pragmatic, cost-effective strategies for maintaining compliance, minimizing liabilities, and improving environmental performance.

What You Will Be Doing:

The successful candidate should have a proven ability to navigate local, state, and federal regulations combined with the ability to prepare technical analyses and reports.

Areas of business include:

  • Developing and/or revising various U.S. EPA and/or State required regulatory written programs (e.g., SPCC Plans, stormwater management plans, hazardous material business plans, waste management plans).
  • Completing annual Emergency Planning Community Right-to-Know Act reports (Tier 2, Form R).
  • Documenting and preparing air emission inventories and reports.
  • Completing environmental permit applications for various media such as wastewater, stormwater, and air.
  • Conducting audits of client records, data, and inspections and ensure proper documentation is maintained.
  • Tracking applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations (e.g., EPA, state agencies).

What You Will Need:

  • BS or BA in Environmental or physical sciences, Engineering, or equivalent sciences.
  • At least one (1) year of professional-level experience is desired; prior experience in environmental consulting or at a regulatory agency is preferred.
  • Effective written/verbal communication, presentation, and organization/analytical skills. Experience authoring detailed technical reports and plans.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills while working on multiple projects for multiple clients. Candidates must be meticulous and exhibit good listening and note-taking skills.
  • Exceptional data analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs, particularly Microsoft Excel functions and formulas.
  • At least one college-level course, or equivalent, in a computer language.
  • Demonstrates experience providing services to comply with CEQA/NEPA, Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, and Endangered Species acts.
  • Familiarity with EMFAC, AERMOD, HARP2, CalEEMod, CALPUFF, EPA MOVES, and/or EPA TANKS.
  • Regular travel to client locations (local and regional) with occasional national travel possible; approximately 25% of overnight travel, generally not longer than 1-2 nights.
  • Candidates must be willing and able to work independently with little to no oversight in unique circumstances.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions, including rain and heat.
  • Ability to climb ladders and multiple flights of stairs as well as work at higher evaluations such as building rooftops and tank farms.
  • A Valid Driver's license is required.
  • Commitment to uphold EnSafe standards of quality and safety.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and diversified environment.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
