CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

Located within the Audit and Loss Prevention Department, the Data Analyst, Audit will work both independently and closely with the Corporate Audit, Field Audit and Loss Prevention teams to assist in the evolution and execution of the data analytics audit program. Data Analyst, Audit will be responsible for the following:



  • Assist on the completion and execution of audit and loss prevention procedures using data analytic tools.
  • Report findings to appropriate personnel and working with management to provide value-added guidance.
  • Assist on development of visualizations using Tableau and Dataiku to assist with efficient and effective audit testing and support of continuous auditing and monitoring initiatives.
  • Gain an understanding of all key data points and audit objectives to identify opportunities to assist the Department.
  • Assist the team lead on assessing and challenging the data analytics program and existing scripts/queries to help improve efficiencies, completeness, and accuracy of testing.
  • Assist in the completion of special projects using data analytics tools.


Because this role involves access to confidential financial information, the Company has determined that a review of criminal history is necessary to protect the business and its operations and reputation and to provide similar protections for its clients and potential investments.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

FORMAL EDUCATION:

Required:



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Data Analytics, Management Information Systems, Technology or a related Technology field from an accredited institution


Preferred:



  • Professional certifications such as CFE, CISA, and CIA


KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

Required:



  • 1-3 years of auditing and/or data analytics experience
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and possess strong data analytic and communication skills
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Work independently under minimal supervision and as part of a team
  • Self-motivated and possess a continuous improvement mindset
  • Must be able to clearly report, communicate, and present on data analytic procedures utilized, key issues identified, business impact, and recommendations for improvement to Senior Management.


Preferred:



  • Strong data analytic skills and experience with extracting, understanding, formatting, mapping, and cleansing data for use in visualization tools (Tableau) or data preparation tools (Dataiku)
  • Experience with common data analysis and data mining techniques
  • Experience with reporting and data analytic tools such as Tableau, Alteryx, Tableau Prep, Dataiku, Toad, Business Objects.
  • Experience with development and understanding of SQL queries that can be utilized as part of continuous auditing and monitoring initiatives
  • Experience with writing SQL queries to pull data from relational databases (e.g. Snowflake, PostgreSQL, Oracle).
  • General understanding of IT process, business processes, and data flows to help identify key risks and opportunities to implement the use of data analytic procedures.
  • Familiarity of audit related data points and their relevance to a specific task


TECHNICAL/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Required:



  • Has experience building or utilizing Tableau dashboards.


Preferred:



  • Strong understanding of how to merge multiple datasets from excel files, data warehouses, and via PostgreSQL.
  • Strong understanding of how to use data science tools like Dataiku, Alteryx or Tableau Prep to manipulate and analyze data.
